There comes a point when you decide it’s time to rediscover who YOU are.

Meet Bobbie, one of the beautiful women who joined us for our last VIP Day at Serenity Spa.

After spending years allowing other people to tell her who she was, Bobbie is in the process of finding herself again.

And this time, she’s doing it on her own terms.

Not just for herself, but for her daughter, too. Because she wants her daughter to see what it looks like when a woman chooses herself, trusts herself, and decides she gets to define who she is.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this energy.

And it’s one of the reasons I believe so deeply in the power of portrait photography.

Sometimes it’s about rediscovery. Sometimes it’s about healing, transformation, or celebrating how far you’ve come.

And sometimes it’s simply about giving yourself permission to be seen, exactly as you are, in this chapter of your life.

And when you get to pair that experience with an entire day of being pampered at the spa? Well, that’s just the cherry on top.

You deserve to do something that’s just for YOU.

She had spent years telling her kids they could be whoever they wanted to be.

Then she realized she had never believed the same thing about herself.

When I asked Tonya why she decided to join the 40 Project, this is what she told me:

“I have told all 3 of my kids since they were young that they can be whomever they want to be and do whatever they want to do, and I meant every word. I realized that I had never said it or believed it applied to me until this project.

I do not step out of my comfort zone. It was time for me to be strong, confident and see myself for the first time. Like you said, ‘See yourself as others see you’.

I hope this also helps at least one person take a step forward, out of their comfort zone, be brave, strong and do whatever they want to do in life.”

That right there is why this project matters so much to me.

Because how many of us have spent years encouraging our kids, our friends, the people we love to take chances, believe in themselves, go after what they want and take up space…

while quietly believing there were different rules for us?

Maybe the next chapter isn’t about becoming someone new.

Maybe it’s finally believing that all of those things you’ve spent years telling everyone else are true for you, too.

Tonya stepped outside her comfort zone.

And now she gets to be the woman showing someone else that they can do it, too.

Meet Tonya, one of the newest women joining Volume 4 of the 40 Project.

When I asked her to share something that speaks to where she is in life, her answer was all about resilience.

Life is going to hit hard sometimes.
There will be seasons that knock you down, plans that change, things you never saw coming.

But strength isn’t about never getting knocked down.

It’s about continuing to move forward.
Choosing yourself again.
Finding your footing again.
Laughing again.
Dreaming again.
Being willing to step into whatever comes next.

And I think there’s something especially powerful about women reaching this season of life and realizing just how much they’ve already made it through.

Not hardened by it.
Stronger. Wiser. More themselves.

Tonya is officially part of Volume 4 of the 40 Project, and I freaking love that this is the energy she’s bringing with her.

Here’s to the women who keep moving forward. 🖤

Our first VIP Day at Serenity Spa was exactly what I hoped it would be.

A day to get out of your normal routine.
Be taken care of.
Get pampered.
Laugh.
Get dressed up.
And step in front of my camera without having to figure out a single thing on your own.

Because I really believe women need more days where they aren’t the one making everything happen for everyone else.

And yes, there’s a photoshoot at the end of it.

But the photos are almost the souvenir.

The real point is giving yourself a day where you get to be the priority.

We’ll absolutely be doing more of these.

I don't think every woman needs a photoshoot to help her feel confident.

Some women walk into my studio already knowing exactly who they are.

They've built careers.

Raised families.

Started over.

Changed their bodies.

Changed their minds.

Left things that weren't right for them.

Built lives they're proud of.

They aren't looking for me to give them confidence.

They've earned that themselves.

Sometimes they simply want to celebrate it.

To have something tangible that says:

THIS was me at 37, 47, 57....

This was the woman I had become.

This was the life I had built.

This was the version of myself I finally stopped apologizing for.

And I think that's a damn good reason to be photographed.

I’m a BIG believer in women supporting women, and local businesses collaborating instead of competing.

And this one is extra special because I genuinely love Serenity Spa. I’m a client myself, and if you haven’t had their Glow2 facial yet… that’s my personal favorite (or the head spa, i cant decide! Get both!)

Heather and her team have created such an incredible space in our community for women to come in, slow down, take care of themselves and feel GOOD.

Which is exactly why Serenity was the perfect place for our VIP Day.

And our first one is TOMORROW. 🤍

We’re basically taking everything I love about a spa day and everything I love about a portrait experience and putting them together into one entire day that is about YOU.

Spa treatments.
Hair + makeup.
A fully guided photoshoot.
No rushing back to real life in between.

Just a whole damn day dedicated to making you look and feel amazing.

And getting to create it alongside another local woman-owned business makes it even better.

Heather is also one of the newest women in my 40 Over 40 Project, and she fits this project SO perfectly.

She’s a strong business owner, an inspiring woman and someone who has created something that genuinely adds value to our community.

We actually combined Heather’s branding session AND her 40 Over 40 experience into one shoot, so I have a whole lot more of this woman coming to your feed soon. 🔥

And I REALLY can’t wait to show you what we create tomorrow at Serenity.

Random life update absolutely no one asked for 😂

Just over here raising humans, running businesses, chasing big ideas, trying to remember what day it is, and somehow keeping everybody mostly alive and thriving.

Some seasons feel more balanced than others. This one currently feels like 47 tabs open at once.
