This situation breaks my heart for this mama! I’m so glad she is speaking out about this horrible yet preventable situation!!

Drowning is the #1 cause of death 4 and under!! Swimming is the first sport your child should be participating in!
Drowning doesn’t just happen to other people! Drowning is an accident that can happen to ANYONE that doesn’t have an effective water safety strategy in place! This starts with layers of protection, supervision, alarms, gates, barriers, skills and CPR. One can fail so the more you have the better!

And lastly a hard truth bomb… don’t check off a skill set if you’re in crappy ineffective lessons/programs where your child isn’t performing skills independently in a matter of weeks. You’re giving yourself a false sense of security and wasting your time and your child’s. If they are not getting their face wet , swimming with their face above the water or floating without help the will not magically do it in an emergency

Accept that drowning is always a possibility and as parents we should be doing everything in our power to prevent it!
