Male Common Yellowthroats are the 'masked bandits' of tangled thickets in & along the edges of wetlands & bogs.
They are one of the most abundant & far ranging warblers across Central & North America.
Some migrate long distances from Central America to Canada. Some are year-round residents of south Southeastern US.
And while they remain abundant, they have not totally avoided the population declines of their taxonomic cousins. Populations have been dropping .6%\yr & are down almost 30% since the mid-1960s. The main culprit? Loss of the "tangled thickets in & along the edges of wetlands & bogs.
