Did you know that St. Mary's Catholic Church in Gainesville was established in 1879?? The original church was lost to a fire and the gorgeous building you see here was built in 1920.

The first building was a simple two room cabin--one room for worship and one room as the priest's living quarters.

I wish I could find photos or drawings of the original!
