"More people are waking to the truth about fossil fuels, to the empires built on greed, to the lies that extract life for profit. The path ahead is enormous, a revolution of culture and consciousness that remembers who we are, that humans are part of the living web of the planet, and that we cannot survive apart from it." - EarthlyEducation

"People who know how to be delicate are beautiful" - CrownOfSparrows

The world can be cruel and frantic. Don't let the response to that become the default. There are times to pause and just observe. Understanding the difference between the two is important. Our society urges us to rush and imposes a value on us by how "productive" we are. The universe tells us to spend all morning watching a giant ball of plasma 93 million miles away nourish an entire world, uniting us all under the same banner.

"Happy Mother's Day to Earth, the oldest mother we know. For billions of years she has turned stardust into forests, oceans, birdsong and breath. Every meal, every heartbeat, every moment of beauty begins with her. Maybe the deepest way to celebrate today is to remember that care should flow both ways." - EarthlyEducation

“All this struggle just for life to end on a random day.” - Fyodor Dostoevsky

Marsh rabbit's lifeless stare captured by the jaws of fate. Nature is not meant to be safe. Nature is a balancing act, settled with fangs and claws.

Stardust capturing starlight. The degree and complexity of the natural, biological world means many of its mysteries may never be revealed prior to its destruction at the hands of human beings. I feel despair thinking about this. Humans have thousands of creation myths and none of them are true. The power and scale of the cosmos makes all gods small and tiny, weak and petty. How can one be impressed by a burning bush when you can watch a black hole devour a star, or understand that a red dwarf can fuse hydrogen into helium for trillions of years? Nobody in antiquity even knew of a number like 1 trillion since the concept of 1 trillion was first discovered in the late 15th century. You can spend a morning watching dead stars collect starlight, and then instead of arguing with the wind, they move their wings. They don't pray, they act. Every animal does this. They deal with the universe as it is. Conservative Christianity in particular has been incredibly destructive in terms of damaging the connection humans deserve to have with Earth. It injects itself in between people and their world, like an abusive partner does with one's family, stripping away awe and wonder in exchange for obedience and passivity. It turns the wonder of life against people, having them feel guilt for simply being human. It forces people to give up power in this world in exchange for the promise of some in the next life. You take that power back by watching, observing, noticing, and asking questions.

We Are All Interconnected
No life exists in isolation.
What we do to the earth, to animals, to strangers—we do to ourselves.
The breath you take is the breath of trees.
Kindness is not extra.
It’s essential.
