Rachel and I have have finally returned home from Egypt after what ended up being the most miserable and grueling 30+ hours of plane rides I have ever experienced. But it was worth it to be able to explore this ancient world! While in Egypt I tried 3 new kinds of meat, admired (and went inside of) the world's only remaining 7 Wonder, walked through old king's tombs, and enjoyed countless hours of stories about an ancient people and their Gods. Aside from the ancient, I also got to experience modern Cairo and it's energetic and wacky population of Egyptians, who are some lovely people. Right now we are still exhausted and have to work tomorrow... but I couldn't help dumping my images anyways and editing a few. I tried something new in Egypt as well which was taking about 100 different short videos, so I hope to complete some sort of project with these in the future.

We had a very quick trip to Colorado a few weeks ago for a wedding and for some absurd reason I forgot to bring my camera... sooo my $15 disposable camera film just came back!

My attempt at photographing the full solar eclipse of 4/8/2024. There are probably millions of photos of eclipses but there's just something special about doing it yourself. This is the 2nd solar eclipse I've gotten to see in my life and probably the last one for a couple decades. It really is breathtaking when you see the last tiny spark of the sun disappear and remove your glasses to see the sun completely enveloped in darkness... These photos were taken in Dexter, Missouri.

Nara is filled with thousands of deer that are just chilling and living side by side with humans. They walk the paths of the temples, cross under the torii gates and lay by museum and restaurant entrances. For 200 yen you can pick up a stack of crispy pancake snacks to feed them. I'm not sure why I thought Nara would be sort of a touristy gimmick compared to other places in Japan but it ended up being a highlight. Aside from deer it has some of the largest and oldest wooden buildings in the world, several UNESCO world heritage sites, plenty of trees well over a thousand years old, and a feeling of an older more traditional Japan than most other places we visited.
