behind the scenes of second shooting yesterday for felt like a dream🥹 I usually don't have the time to get so many BTS as the main photographer so it was pure bliss to grab these little moments for a change.

from start to finish — hairspray to save the day, my photo bestie picking me up (because our houses are 5 mins apart, thank you Jesus) and the cutest couple in the dreamiest location!!

Part two: The Future Mr. & Mrs. German // When I met Kaitlyn and Kyle for their session it was SO easy to see they were some of the smiliest and most joyful humans.

Her laugh is contagious and bright. His smile is warm and grounding. She can turn strangers into friends, and so can he.

Their love is genuine, fun, and true. It was and is a gift to photograph such a thing. 🥹🤍

Part one: The Future Mr. & Mrs. German // After many Husker football games, backyard bonfires, card nights, and O Street adventures, Kaitlyn & Kyle’s friends were convinced they should date.

It took them longer than everyone else to see their chemistry but by the end of undergrad, they decided to date. Their relationship withstood long-distance dating with lots of FaceTime dates, endless trips across the US, and a trip to Mexico where they were engaged!☀️

Fast forward three years and we’re less than 200 days away from the day they say “I do.” 🥰💍

“Capturing light with a box” is how my college professor defined photography. Simple, yet profound.

It’s a funny thing to think about all of the seasons of life my camera has been with me since then. It kept me sane during COVID, it brought me joy when the shutdown ended, and it has connected me to some of the most beautiful souls I know.

After the pandemic, I did a photography gallery to tell the story of that period during that time through images.

People told me:
“The photos are good, but oh, the words!”

Together, the writing pen and the camera created a narrative that people connected with—some more deeply than others.

This is the heart of photography for me—it’s not just about the images. It’s about the stories behind them—stories of light, love, and beauty. Stories of real people with real pain and real dreams come true.

I can’t tell you how incredible it is to see people you’ve known through different stages of life become parents. I’m getting a lil teary-eyed writing this because it’s the most amazing miracle seeing the 19-year-old Michelle I knew becoming a mom at this this age and stage of life. So so special to see your friends raise babies, right?

Michelle is the kind of friend you could call on a crappy day and know she would be in your corner.

Michelle is calm in chaos and one of the most resilient people I know. She is someone you want on your team. She loves people fiercely, and she embodies all that I imagine it means for a woman to have strength.

During this session of Michelle, Travis, Harper, and their dog Hondo, I paused multiple times to take in the sweetness of their life together. It is breathtakingly beautiful. Michelle laughed as she said, “Trav and Harper are besties, and I third wheel.”

I watched Trav with his little girl and saw him as a natural girl dad. No doubt he will be a really, really good dad. And Michelle will be a really, really good mom.

I write this thinking GOSH, I am so thankful for clients like these. People like YOU who remind me how this life is a wonderful, beautiful ride. 💛🥲
