Happy 100th birthday to the National Park Service!!! Today in 1916 President Woodrow Wilson signed into law the Organic Act and paved the way for the protection of our most wild and beautiful lands. Since then, the NPS has been working tirelessly to keep our wild lands pristine and to preserve and promote the history the lands tell.

Admission to all NPS units will be free in celebration of the Centennial from August 25th to the 28th, so get out there an enjoy one near you!

This Friday, August 26th, the National Park Service turns 100! In 1916 President Woodrow Wilson signed into law the Organic Act which created the agency and stated its mission as "..to conserve the scenery and the natural and historic objects and the wild life therein and to provide for the enjoyment of the same in such manner and by such means as will leave them unimpaired for the enjoyment of future generations."
