I happened to take a photography class awhile back and through it met some amazing people. Over the past several years I really started to fall out of the love for photography and the joy it would bring me. However, today I was reminded of one of my driving forces to take photos. As a child I remember looking at my family photo books over and over bringing back memories of family gatherings, birthdays and silly moments. My Grandma who was the family photographer and lovingly put those memories together passed when I was young. I felt close to her looking through the camera lens at life as she saw it. The few actual photos of her were treasures.
When someone passes you relive your time with them through photos. A photo takes you back to the place you were, the smells, the sounds and how you felt.
Today I learned that one of the people I met through that photography class passed away. The photo he used as the upload for this song is one I took during the class. Gary Russell, life on this earth was cut short for you. I wish your family and friends eventual healing and that they are able to find peace in your untimely passing. Life is short. It’s cliche, but never truer.
