I rented the Fuji GFX 100S II to see if medium format could actually take my landscape photography further…

And honestly? The results surprised me.

These images were taken in and around Capitol Reef National Park — one of the most underrated landscapes in the Southwest. The light was incredible, the scenes were unforgettable… and the files? Stunning.

But I left the trip asking: is “better” always worth the weight?

The Milky Way rose behind Capitol Peak while the moon illuminates the summit. It was a chilly evening, but we were able to boil water for tea and enjoy it!
