Sometimes I want a portrait to be pretty. Sometimes I want it to make you stop scrolling. This was definitely the latter.
I love getting in close and stripping away everything that doesn’t need to be there. No elaborate location. No wardrobe to carry the image. No colors to distract. There is something honest in a black and white image. Just raw expression, some texture, tones, and a whole lot of contrast.
It’s not your typical headshot—and that’s kind of the point.
Photography doesn’t always need to explain itself. Sometimes it just needs to make you look twice.
