What’s your sweet escape when the weather is a scorcher like today?

Did Mother Nature forget that we wanted a little less sweat and a lot more breeze? For me, there’s nothing better than hopping in the car, blasting the A/C, chasing golden-hour light down by the lake with my camera, and cooling off afterward with a big iced latte while I edit — instant reset.

What’s your go-to summer escape, photographer friends?

How do weekend plans typically shape up for you? Are you: A. fully ready for Friday at least a week in advance, B. happy to make a game-time decision when the weekend is upon us, or C. surprised when the weekend arrives because who has the time to keep track of what day it is?

I admit, sometimes it’s C for me — between back-to-back sessions and editing deadlines I legitimately lose track of days — but 9 times out of 10 I’m A: I plan shoots, scout locations, and block time to actually rest so my clients get my best energy. This weekend I’m leaning into A: an early sunrise mini-session, then cozy gallery curation with chamomile tea and a little guilty-pleasure podcast.

Fashion confession: I live in leggings and oversized soft hoodies when I’m off-duty. But when it comes to my professional business, I show up polished, calm, and thoughtfully put-together — a relaxed-professional vibe that helps clients feel safe and look their best in front of the camera. On the outside, you might think I’m bubbly or silly, but just below the surface, you might be surprised to discover I’m an introvert who recharges in quiet corners. That calm actually makes me a better photographer and music performer — I notice the tiny, honest moments others miss and create a relaxed space where clients can be themselves. The result is galleries that feel personal, real, and full of emotion.

For me, a piping hot cup of chamomile-lavendar herbal tea is the PERFECT way to unwind after a long day of shoots or editing. Pair that with a favorite crime documentary and you’ve got my blissful evening recipe — camera off, slippers on.
