If you’re putting off family photos because you’re pretty sure your toddler(s) won’t cooperate, I want you to know I’m planning for that too
Little kids have hard moments during photos all the time. They’re tired, they decide they absolutely do not want to stand where we put them, they need a snack, or they’d much rather investigate a stick on the ground than look at me. None of that makes me nervous, and I’m never expecting them to be “on” for an entire session
If something isn’t working, I change what we’re doing. We might play a game, add some movement, let them explore for a few minutes, take a snack break, have them snuggle into you, or completely abandon the pose I had in mind and come back to it later. Sometimes I’ll photograph your other child for a bit while they reset. I’m paying attention to what your kids are giving me instead of trying to force the session forward
And I’ll still guide you. You don’t have to spend the whole session trying to get everyone to behave while also wondering what to do with your hands and hoping we’re getting anything good
Your kids get to be kids. I’ll keep us moving, adjust when we need to, and make sure we’re still creating the family photos you came for
Especially with littles, a little patience, a lot of play, and a snack in the bag can get us pretty far. 🤍
