No one owes you anything
Drivers don’t owe you their money, tracks don’t owe you free entry, media outlets don’t owe you their time… no one owes you anything.
No one saw the 200 plus races I paid my way into learning growing and becoming a better photographer. No one sees the money including payment plans on lenses, I invested to produce a product that actually sells and makes money. No one sees the years I’ve spent learning from as many free places as I could to figure out a camera I never knew how to operate
No one owes me anything, so I’m thankful when people see what I do and give me support. When a track or promoter gives me a free pit pass after years of hard work it doesn’t go unappreciated. When a driver or their family pays for a photo I try my best to stay grateful and throw as much stuff at them as I can. When a media outlet wants to help me get into bigger races I try my best to remain professional and give them my best.
You’re not selling? Maybe you need to be better
You’re not getting in free? Maybe you need better connections and a product that supports it
You’re not getting valued? Maybe you’re not bringing value
Photographers have a tendency to whine, me myself included… but let’s be honest no one owes us anything so when we get something maybe we should appreciate it. And if you’re not happy with the fact dirt photographers barely can afford to pay their gas to get to the track well then you’re in the wrong sport, go do wedding photos and you’ll make money. This is about passion.
