Hi everyone! Long time no talk. π€
I'll be the first to admit I've been pretty bad at social media this year.
The last few years, work completely consumed my life, and trying to keep up with social media started to feel more overwhelming than enjoyable. One of the biggest changes I made was getting rid of sneak peeks that I used to post here for my clients. Once I didn't have that built-in reason to post anymore, I kind of took a step back from social media altogether. Not because I didn't want to share, but because I genuinely needed a mental break from the constant pressure that came with running a business online.
So if you've been wondering why I've been so quiet, that's why. My mental health needed it.
I've still been photographing sessions, but I intentionally cut back my availability this year to find a healthier balance between shooting, editing, taking care of myself, being a mom, and actually enjoying life. I truly love what I do, but the pressure is real. Imposter syndrome is real. Trying to wear all of those hats at once was draining my creativity.
This year has given me a much better balance between work and home life. I've also gotten a lot clearer with my clients about what they can expect from me as a photographer, and that alone has lifted such a huge weight off my shoulders. I had to stop comparing my editing style, turnaround times, and business to everyone else's because we're all living completely different lives. If the way I run my business isn't the right fit for everyone anymore, that's okay. For my own sanity, I had to let go of some of my people-pleasing tendencies so I can continue showing up as the mom and photographer I want to be.
If you've been one of my clients from the beginning and have stuck with me through all of the changes over the years, thank you. Your support means more than I could ever put into words, and I don't take it for granted.
I'm hoping to find a healthier rhythm with social media again, one that doesn't feel so heavy. I'm excited to finally start sharing all of the beautiful people and memories I've had the privilege of capturing this year.
As for the rest of the year, I have a few mini session nights on the calendar! I'm still undecided about traditional fall minis, but if I end up offering them, I'll be sure to let everyone know. I also need to figure out dates for Tree Farm and Christmas Minis, and I'll share all of that information as soon as I have it.
Thanks for sticking around while I figured things out. I'm really looking forward to sharing more with you all again. π€
