Genesa Richards Photography Wedding & Family photographer in the Tacoma/Seattle, WA area! Photographing on location & for travel!

I love to tell stories... and I love even more when I can tell them without words. Whether it's the annual family portraits that show your family's growth, passion shared through an engagement session or the true happiness and love shared on your wedding day. These are your stories and I allow for them to be shared through photographs for generations to come.

I've sat here, clicking back and forth on my computer, then coming back to this post...trying to figure out how to use my words.

My entire life, I've been surrounded by the bowling community, which if you don't know, is a very large group of people worldwide. My family is pretty prominent in the community, with having several incredible bowlers in the Richards family. (I'm not one of them, unfortunately lol)

Anyway, the Lynch family is one that has also been apart of the community. I've also been taking their portraits for countless years. From Andrea's senior pics, sibling photos, different sets of family photos, engagement photos, wedding ones next year and then these family portraits.

But these ones are different. Roy was recently diagnosed with cancer. It's the early stages and he's one heck of a fighter but when Andrea reached out to me to do this session, I cried and immediately said, "absolutely!". My heart is with all of you guys, has been and will continue to be while you're on this journey. Thank you for allowing me to take these photographs. They're truly priceless.

These photos mean everything to me. ❤️

This beautiful lady is my baby sissy, Amanda, but I call her Fran. It’s a nickname my dad started when she was a little girl, due to her middle name and her obsession with The Nanny, with Fran D.

This session was Fran and Joey’s engagement portraits, which I’m so honored to have been given the honor of doing so. I’m her Matron of Honor next fall and because of that, I’m not able to photograph her big day. (She wants me to enjoy the day as her big sissy and not work, which I cannot wait to do!) But we did hire the best team for their wedding. The very own, Amanda and Steven Lloyd of Lloyd Photo + Films. Amanda Lloyd photographed our wedding 8 years ago so it’s super awesome that we get to have them do my sister’s wedding years later.

Anyway, Joey works for Boeing and loves planes. Fran has been a travel ju**ie for years and they share that together now so doing their session at an airport with planes was the perfect place. We also got very lucky and the very plane Joey hoped they’d have, they did AND the sun came out right as we pulled in. It had been gloomy and rainy all day.

Anyway, as a big sister, I’m truly excited that she chose me for all of the above and that I get to see my sissy as a bride soon!
Love you Fran and Joey! ❤️❤️

Last weekend, I spent a morning/afternoon at Picha Farms, photographing beautiful families for an event that Jody Akerman - Anchored Dreams Team, KW Puyallup and Bruce McLaughlin at Movement Mortgage Puyallup.

Over 430 people registered and over 120 groupings were photographed. I laughed, smiled and shared stories throughout the 3 hours. It was such a fun event and it sure felt great to be out there taking portraits again!

Here's just a few images for example of all the beautiful families I briefly met. ❤ Currently booking mini sessions for October - December, just in time for holiday cards or your updated family portrait hosted.

Where do I even begin with these two? I've known Whitney for almost half my life. She was a youth bowler as well as her little sister, Kassandra, and Kassandra dated my little brother. I spent a lot of weekend's driving down to OR for OJC's (tournaments) and it was always so awesome to see the Kautz girls.

Fast forward, Whitney and Donny have been together for 15 years, with having two beautiful children together. Tonight, in the most beautiful celebration, they finally became husband and wife. Their venue in Salem, OR was absolutely perfect for them and it was the most surreal feeling to be greeted by everyone as if my husband and I are family. We ARE family in one way or another and that's possibly why I teared up several times today, as well as all the goosebumps. This exact moment, I had goosebumps.

Mr. & Mrs. Wynter...congratulations AGAIN and thank you for allowing me to be such a special part in your magical day. I'll never forget it!

Sunday, I had the privilege of photographing Nate & Kylie's wedding down at The Barn On Jackson. It was simply the most perfect day, with their closest friends and family in attendance. I smiled and laughed countless times and I couldn't be happier that these two are finally married!

Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Percy! Strike it rich in Vegas!

It was early 2014 when I first met Kristie & Colin. We did their engagement portraits at Kristie's family's lake property. A few months later, I photographed their gorgeous wedding at Woodland Meadows.

2015, we did their maternity portraits at their new home and around the surrounding area.

2016, I did their first official family portraits with baby Chloe.

Flash forward to tonight, exactly 5 years ago from their last family session. They wore the same outfits, the same park, the same blanket. The last baby of the family, wore the same outfit as what her big sister wore. I got to meet Callum and Isla for the first time.

The McLane family is very special to me and I'm so grateful that I've been apart of so many of their milestone moments.

Caitlen went to high school with my little sister and has followed my work over the years, from seeing my sister share. So when she contacted me to do their family portraits, I was so excited to meet her and her beautiful family!

Little baby Andrew killed me with his little smirks here and there but don't let these fool you, I did get some smiles out of that little guy. ;)

Before I was a photographer, I worked in retail management in a shopping mall. One of my employees I hired, in 2009, was Ashley! Her and I become pretty close friends, outside of work also, with having the most fun doing store resets in-between holidays. (I might've locked her and another employee/friend in a glass display case) ;)

Fast forward to all these years later... we reconnected on Facebook a few years back. She's married to an awesome guy and the momma to this beautiful little girl, Reagan! Being a mommy is such a special gift and I loved watching these two interact. Twinsies!
