My Passion for Photography

Welcome to my page! My passion for photography has been since I was a little girl. I always wanted to carry around a disposable camera just incase I needed to take a picture (lol). The first cameras I held were $3 disposables and a Kodak camera of some sort a family member owned. I liked that the film had to be loaded and I would keep the little tube it came in for lunch money at school. I would take photos of anything from a leaf laying on the ground to the awkward moments of people chewing or bending over. I LOVED it all. I still do!

After leaving a not so good situation and house when I was 16 I lost almost all of my photographs. From when I was a baby, toddler, little girl, sports...you name it. I had my own photo albums of my friends and me playing powder puff football, softball, volleyball, us just goofing around, etc. Materialistic items can always be replaced and in the scheme of life are extraneous, but I felt a deep loss. I didn’t get to see a picture of me as a baby again until I was blessed to be reunited with my Dad in 2017.

When I received my first digital camera in 2005 I thought I had won the lottery! I took over 300 photos that Christmas alone. My favorite subjects were my cats at the time. If you scrolled through my memory card it was probably about 75% filled with my cats (lol). It had 4 megapixels and I was still in love. In 2007 I then went to Ai in Rosslyn, VA for graphic design and I received a Sony camera in my supply kit. This was a complete upgrade! I was at a nice 8 megapixels! (lol) I took 2 photography classes and was able to learn how to do more than just snap shots. I was on my way to upgrading my childhood hobby. I started taking tons of nature photos, pics at my brothers baseball games, and school photos of my siblings. For several holidays and occasions my mom would get a new printed photograph inside a frame. She is one of my biggest fans. When I got my first good paying job I purchased a Fuji camera that had the clearest capability of viewing your thumbnail photos on a 3in screen. I was pretty excited!

When I decided I wanted to pursue photography and share with the rest of the world I gathered the courage to start promoting myself and putting together a little portfolio. I also then upgraded my camera to a Nikon which, just how I felt about the other new cameras, I absolutely love. I have 2 lens currently that let me photograph nature up close and from afar, and now portraits and events I do publicly. I want other people to have tangible memories to share and cherish forever. I want little girls and boys to be able to grow up and look back at pictures of themselves. It can be very therapeutic to stroll through memory lane. Especially when you have the moments captured! Phones are pretty amazing and can capture moments at the drop of a hat, but when it comes to quality and detail you just can’t beat a good ole photograph taken with a camera. Film or digital!
