Anyone else feel like we just welcomed fall, and now we’re already planning Christmas photos? 🫣🥴

One season rolls into the next, the calendar fills up, and before we know it, we’ll be welcoming another year.

As a mom and Frederick, Maryland family photographer, I catch myself thinking about what’s next so often that I need the reminder, too: there’s still time to enjoy what’s right here.

Stay outside a little longer. Say yes to one more hug. Listen to the story that takes them forever to tell. Let a few things wait.

Still to this day one of my favorite shoots I’ve had the privilege to do. Harper’s Ferry, WV is one of my favorite towns during autumn with all the beautiful pops of color.

Here I am, years after taking these photos of my kids, wishing I was in more of them.

I was so busy capturing them that I barely got in front of the camera myself. I remember telling myself, “All I need is one.”

And I love that one. But now I wish I hadn’t talked myself out of taking more. More of us together. More of how I held them and how little they were beside me.

Because I was there, too.

So mama, get in the photos. And when you catch yourself saying, “Just one is enough,” give yourself a few more. I wish I had. ❤️

Mamas, you know those little things your kids do that you wish you could bottle up? 🥹

The way they squeeze each other into a hug. The giggles that follow. The little personalities you see every day that don’t always come out when someone says, “Smile for the camera.”

Those are the things I’m looking for when I photograph your family.

As a mom of three, I know getting everyone ready for photos can feel like one more thing on an already full plate. Maybe you’re worried your kids won’t sit still, someone will be having a hard day, or the whole thing will feel stressful.

There’s room for breaks, for moving around, and for taking a little time to warm up. You can love a photo like this without everyone looking at the camera. 🥰
