CaptiveHeart Photography I'm Samantha and I'm the face behind the camera you'll be in front of! I'm fairly new to the Frederick MD/VA/PA area and so far love it.

I'm looking for families of all types, couples, maternity, newborn and more to add to my portfolio.

Imagine a date night that’s really just an excuse to run around, laugh too hard, flirt a little, and forget the camera is even there. ❤️

Bare feet, water fights, climbing up on his shoulders, kisses, laughing until your stomach hurts… basically getting to feel like kids again with your favorite person.

That’s the kind of session I want to photograph. The fun stuff. The real stuff. The way you actually are together. 🫶🏼📸

How is my baby girl already going into her last year of elementary school? 🥹

I swear I was just sending her off to full-day kindergarten, wondering how she’d do being away from me all day. And somehow, here we are… standing at the beginning of her very last elementary school year.

Tara has always moved through life in her own way. She’s never been one to follow the crowd or do something simply because everyone else is doing it. She has her own rhythm, her own spark, and her own way of seeing the world.

Since her autism diagnosis with a PDA profile, I’ve come to understand so much more about the girl she has always been. Things that once felt confusing suddenly made sense. Not because there was anything about her that needed to be changed, but because her brain experiences the world differently. She needs things approached differently, she does things in her own time, and she has always carved out her own path.

It’s never been Tara and her autism. It’s all Tara. ❤️

School hasn’t always been easy. There have been hard days, big feelings, moments of refusing, moments of pushing through, and so many little victories that probably wouldn’t look like victories to anyone else.

But I see them.

I see how hard she tries.
I see how deeply she feels.
I see how much she’s grown while still staying completely herself.

And that might be what makes this last year feel so big.

I don’t need this year to look like anyone else’s. I just hope she is surrounded by people who take the time to truly know her, give her room to be herself, include her in ways that make her feel like she belongs, and remind her that there is absolutely nothing wrong with taking a different path. Because inclusion isn’t asking her to fit into everyone else’s version of school. It’s making sure there is space for her there, too.

One last elementary school year, baby girl. 🥹🥰

We’ll do what we’ve always done, take it one day at a time, celebrate the wins that are uniquely yours, and figure the rest out together. I Love You! 💕

Life lately has me digging through old galleries and finding little reminders of how much fun I’ve had creating over the years.

So here’s one I somehow never fully shared. ❤️

More old favorites might be making their way out of the archives.

I think we’ve been told the wrong things matter in family photos.

Everyone worries about the outfits, the smiles, and whether the kids will cooperate.

But years from now, I don’t think that’s what anyone will be looking for.

They’ll be looking for the laughter. The connection. The feeling of being together.

That’s the kind of story I hope every family gets to keep.

If you believe the little moments are the big moments, you’re in the right place.

Leave a 🍓 in the comments if you do.

A little bit of sunshine, a whole lot of laughter, and the kind of moments you’ll want to remember forever. 🤍

Summer sessions are some of my favorites—barefoot adventures, messy little hands, and families simply enjoying each other.

For my Frederick, Maryland families looking for something beyond the traditional “everyone smile at the camera” photo… let’s create images that feel like your family. The laughs, the cuddles, the chaos, and everything in between.

Years from now, I hope these are the moments your children remember.

Summer won’t be here forever. I still have a few openings before school starts, and I’d love to tell your family’s story. ❤️

Some of the greatest lessons photography has taught me have very little to do with cameras.

It has changed the way I see people, my own family, and the fleeting moments we often overlook.

I’m curious… what’s one photo you’ll never stop cherishing? 🤍

Some days I think social media is harder than photography.

Not because I don’t love sharing my work.

But because every time I sit down to post, I find myself wondering…

Do I post one photo or a carousel?
Do people like the “perfect” image or the one with real emotion?
Should I use trending audio?
Should I use original audio?
Do hashtags even matter anymore?
Should I post at 8 a.m.? 7 p.m.? Tuesday? Sunday?
Will anyone even see this if the algorithm decides not to?

Some days I spend more time worrying about how to share my work than I spent creating it.

And that’s kind of heartbreaking.

Because behind these photos is a real family.
Real laughter.
Real tiny hands.
Real memories that deserved to be documented whether they get 50 likes or 5,000.

Maybe that’s the reminder I needed today.

The algorithm doesn’t decide the value of my work.

It doesn’t decide whether this family treasures these images.
It doesn’t decide whether a future client connects with them.
It definitely doesn’t decide why I picked up a camera in the first place.

So here’s another post.
Another family I loved photographing.
Another memory preserved.

If it reaches you… I’m grateful.

And if you’re another small business owner trying to figure out this social media game…🤍
