Ok Melanie Shauer, its been 13 years of photographs and we have arrived at this momentous occasion in your life. Watching your son grown up over the years, and seeing him stand up there with such maturity, kindness, empathy and humor - it was everything.
This. THIS is why I do what I do. As a photographer, I get to become part of the tapestry in a family's memories. I have photographed this guy since he was in his mom's belly and every year since so it was a huge honor to be asked to be there to photograph this day as well, the day he became a man in the Jewish Culture.
I will never forget this.
Thank you for trusting me with your whole story, your memories and your family photos.

I always tell people, its those in between moments.
I set the scene, choose the location, find the right lighting make sure you are posed in flattering ways - but its not the posed shots I am after. I want the in between moments. The real emotion and connection. This is what makes the shot special, the ones you will look back on for a lifetime.

Terrible NEWS: My Go-To Stunning field location is being bulldozed as we speak and it was literally happening during this session.

I am in love this session and we had just the best time, annnnnd I am so sad knowing this was the last time I will get to use this beautiful space as it will now be developed .

I am so thankful that so many of you had shoots here that will serve as beautiful family memories for a lifetime.

Now time to find my new go-to spot.... and in the meantime - enjoy this stunning couple that made the last shoot here very memorable.
