After the pressure of the ceremony and posed portraits is over, I’m free to weave nimbly through crowds with just one camera, one lens and a pocket of film. I can stop worrying about missing anything important for a few minutes.

Shooting cocktail hour is all about getting whatever you can find and was likely an unexpected photo, always seeking that candid portrait that is good enough to prove you never needed those troublesome posed photos at all.

Why are so many photographers angry about AI?

I mean, this is just the natural progression of always accepting and adapting to the latest technology.

AI image making is the ultimate evolution of allowing a device to determine focus and exposure.

AI image making is the best way to make endless variations of an image without any commitment to one in particular.

AI image making is the natural result of rejecting what was captured in-camera and filling the world with people, places and moments that deceive viewers.

AI image making is the best fake film filter you’ll never have to waste anymore time creating or money supporting the businesses that make and use the real thing.

No camera is needed. “The camera doesn’t matter,” right?

No photographer is needed. You were already letting your camera and software make most of your decisions anyway.

AI image making seems to be what so many photographers wanted the whole time - to make things as easy and cheap as possible so they could really let their creativity shine without the hinderances of committing to, learning or going out into the world of risk and consequences to practice anything.

Embrace AI. You wanted it all along and you’ll get what you asked for.
