✨ New beginnings ✨

It’s been quiet here for a year or so, not because I’ve given up on my business, but because I’ve been going through some major life changes.

Last year, and after almost 15 years of marriage, I filed for divorce. To say that this has been the most incredibly difficult year of my life - and trust me, I’ve been through a lot - is an understatement.

✨ Perseverance
✨ Being Brave
✨ Daring Greatly

I find it so incredibly ironic now that my divorce is about to be finalized (One week away) yet I still love photographing weddings, and that I will always encourage finding and falling in love.

For my 2022/2023 Couples: You all have showed me some grace and then some. Many of you have not known this news, some of you have. Simple tasks like answering emails have been tough as I navigate being a single parent, teacher, and wedding photographer. Not to mention new homeowner.

And that is a wrap for my 2022 wedding season! Kaleigh and JB’s wedding yesterday gave me all the feels yesterday as they reminded me there is hope.

From September until now, I have photographed half-a-dozen weddings. And then some. While it’s been quiet virtually, I’ve been here behind the scenes, and teaching in the classroom. 

What. A. Year. 

Thank you to all my clients and vendor friends, especially . You all were the people who NEVER gave up on me this past year as I juggled what has been one of the hardest years of my life. 

To say I love you all is an understatement. Forever and ever. Amen.

Dear 2021 Couples: ⁠⁠
⁠⁠
To start, I had a different caption written for this post. A happy one, for the record. And I feel the need - as your wedding photographer - to address the current state of the world with the Delta variant in mind.⁠⁠
⁠⁠
I know so many of you are once again are reconsidering your wedding date and what your day will look like now. ⁠⁠
⁠⁠
It seems like everything was fine one week and the next not. If the CDC can't figure it out, we can't either. We can't positively think or manifest our way out of this. ⁠⁠
⁠⁠
I want to encourage you to go through with your wedding anyway this fall...and be prepared to downsize if that time should come. What we do know at the moment: vaccines work and so do masks. We didn't have the vaccine last year, we have hope right now.⁠⁠
⁠⁠
What we don't know: What will happen next year. We don't know what other variant will come from the Delta one. We don't know what the heck our world will look like a year from now. Don't wait for a virus to go away to live your life.⁠⁠
⁠⁠
Your day can still be perfect. Your portraits will be much more precious, I assure you that. Livestreaming is a Godsend.⁠⁠
⁠⁠
I've said this before and I will say it again: My job is to make it look like you didn't get married during a pandemic. ⁠⁠
⁠⁠
If you are reconsidering everything, especially the future, you are not alone. I sit here wondering about life myself and what it will look like tomorrow. ⁠⁠
⁠⁠
So two takeaways: We are all in a time of uncertainty, but we should live our lives because we only get one! ⁠⁠
