A whole summer running around MDI, meeting clients in Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, Southwest Harbor, Northeast Harbor- literally so much more than anything I could have dreamed up for our first summer in Maine.

Although I’m still hoping for an opportunity to do photos on a sailboat in one of these beautiful harbors!

Something I unexpectedly fell in love with this summer:

Morning sessions at the beach with bright, direct light 🙈

Craaazzzyyy because it goes against most of what you’re taught as a photographer but here’s what I love about it:

•typically worst best for families with little kids who’s nap schedules are shifted or non existent since they’re on “vacation” time.

•when the sun is out, we get the prettiest blue waters that photograph best in bright light (imo).

•the light sand at the beach reflects back onto clients nicely so even with harsher shadows, the ground works beautifully as a natural reflector.

•if you have plans for hiking later, you get photos done before and don’t have to get ready all over again.

What do you think?! Golden is still beautiful but who’s on board with that mid morning light?! 🙋🏼‍♀️

Five years ago I was binging YouTube videos by Katelyn James, listening to her podcasts, investing in online resources. Fast forward to now, I commented on a post asking to take her family photos and woke up to a DM from the real live Katelyn James 😂

Not to be overly dramatic (but maybe a little), what an unexpected and exciting moment (dare I say milestone haha) to take photos for THE Katelyn James 🤪 who by the way is just as wonderful in person as she is online.

Very thankful for all of the connections made this summer and an opportunity to meet someone who has taught me so much over the years! And even better- to meet another mom with 3 boys and a girl who totally gets it. 😅🙂

Been sitting on these photos for weekssss because it’s impossible to come up with words for such a special family! But if you’re ever lucky enough to meet Lindsey Garrett and her family here is what to expect:

1. The cutest southern accents. You’ll be saying ya’ll by the time you say goodbye.

2. Sense of humor, laughter, genuinely easy and fun to talk to.

3. People who somehow feel like your friends after knowing them for a few minutes?

4. Expect to smile because her boys are both so sweet 🙃

5. You’ll leave feeling encouraged. I don’t know how to explain this (hence the posing paralysis) but again, I have no doubt they have gone and continue to experience hardship and yet there’s such a positivity and light around them.

In summary, they’re awesome - count your lucky stars if you get to meet them in real life. 💕

In honor of the rainy weather we’re getting today, I have to share the previews from this foggy, family maternity session that took place in Acadia.

I had no idea what to expect my first full summer in Maine in terms of working around weather, or really, if I would be working at all! Moving is a lot on its own, but moving with a business, generating new clients and scouting new locations, well it was nerve wracking to say the least.

But this summer has been my busiest, most fulfilling season yet. Clients like these make my job so fun, especially when they embrace the crazy Maine weather and show up ready to enjoy their time together and occasionally go along with my crazy ideas 🤪

Excited to see what August in Maine has in store!

Y’ALL (because my new friends are from the south), even the seagulls showed up and cooperated for family photos.

This is definitely one of my top 3 favorite locations for summer and quickly become a client favorite as well!

Do you love candid photos?! Because, same.

The best way to get those candid photos is let me guide through silly prompts, let your kids run and play, and don’t stress! Think of photos as a family date night.

Let your hair blow with the ocean breezes, let the sand get everywhere, let the kids get wet and play in the water.

I’m also a mom and equally love family photos with everyone looking and smiling, but if you want candid photos too then let the moments between naturally unfold.

FALL SESSION INFO FOR ARIZONA CLIENTS:

One week from today, I will be launching mini sessions for my Arizona clients only!

My travel dates will be:

October 3rd - Location TBD
October 17th - Flagstaff day
October 18th - Desert
November 15th - Christmas studio AM /Greenery PM

I have limited availability for full sessions but I’m happy to work them in, especially if you have Friday or Monday availability 😊

The link will be posted to my stories and BIO for easy sign up on Saturday, 12pm est. There will also be a code to save as part of my annual Christmas in July sale.

I am so excited to see all of my Arizona people again this year!!
