It’s All Coming Back to Me Now played softly while a Kings of Leon drummer got his grill photographed.

I can’t remember who hit play on … We just all decided to commit.

at designed it.

built it.

of wore it like he was born with it.

My job was to document it with the seriousness it deserved. Celine and all.

Mission accomplished.

Some photographers stay quiet behind the camera.

I am not that photographer.

If I’m yelling “THAT LOOKS SO GOOD” from across the room, it’s because it genuinely does. And if you hear me go quiet and mutter something under my breath in a very country accent... that means we just made something special.

But here is the real professional secret: I read the room. I’ve spent years mastering the art of matching a client’s frequency. I know exactly who needs a soft, sophisticated space, and who needs me to (half) drop a cuss word to pull out that “I’m an icon” laugh.

Dr. Tressie? She’s the blueprint. She brought the intellect (literally—she’s a Ph.D. in Sociology), the style, and the energy that only a true main character can. When the “Doctor” stepped into that red suit, the whole studio shifted.

It takes a village of experts to keep up with this much brilliance, and the team didn’t miss a beat:

Gotta shoutout for hair and makeup & .style for the wardrobe styling, and for being the best dance partners in the business.

- The off-camera MVP who knows exactly how to pull out those genuine, “Doctor-level” smiles. 🏆

Whether we’re being sophisticated or having a full-blown studio party, we are capturing the most authentic, powerful version of your brand.

Nobody sees the decisions.

That’s how you know it’s working.

Every image that looks easy took years of training, split-second instincts, and a whole lot of trusting yourself under pressure. The best photography disappears into the moment it captures.

That’s not luck. That’s craft.

The only competition I’m in is with the version of me from last year.

That’s it. That’s the whole game.

I’m not watching what other photographers are doing. I’m not trying to out-gear, out-edit, or out-hustle anyone. I’m just trying to see better than I did yesterday.

Serve better. Create better.

The view from behind my camera is mine. Nobody else is shooting from this exact place, with this exact life behind them.

That’s not arrogance. That’s clarity.

And clarity is what makes the work better.

I have had a front row seat to something pretty special.

A decade ago I started shooting with Brian Preston & Bo Hanson and a very small team over at who genuinely believed they could change the way people think about money.

They were right.

What started as a scrappy group of under ten people is now closing in on fifty, with millions of listeners and a book that hit the bestseller list, landed at number one on and made in the same week!

My portrait of Brian is the Author Photo in Millionaire Mission book. I could not be more proud of that.

Go grab a copy.
Your future self will thank you.
And so will Brian… probably from a very well-funded retirement account.

Hot take: AI made me a better photographer.

Not by touching my images.
By getting out of my way.

Yes, the editing tools are genuinely incredible. Aftershoot culls a thousand frames before I sit down. Evoto handles retouching in seconds that used to take me twenty minutes per image. That part alone is worth it.

But the real game changer? Everything else. The client emails that sound like me. The proposals, follow-ups, captions, and blog posts that used to eat my Sundays whole. That is where AI quietly transforms your business, not just your workflow.

Swipe to see the three tools I actually use, why I keep one corner of my work completely AI-free, and grab the free Time Audit at the end if you want to know exactly where your hours are going.

When the light has an agenda and so does the skirt.

Hard light. Controlled shadow. Every bit of darkness is exactly where I put it.

One light became two, but the second wasn’t there to flood the scene with brightness. It was there to give me precision. That hard slash cutting across her and hitting the background tells you exactly how much shadow I wanted and where I wanted it to stop.

Black and white doesn’t hide anything. It just tells the truth about your light. And I was very okay with that truth.

twirling that skirt with light carving through the frame? That’s the shot.

For photographers: drama is a lighting choice, not a personality type. Learn to control your shadows and you’ll never be boring.

One light. One subject.

There’s something that happens when you strip it all the way back.

No elaborate setup. No modifiers stacked on modifiers. Just a single B10x, a white wall, and being completely magnetic in front of it.

Black and white does the rest.

This is the foundation I come back to every single time. Because if the light isn’t working with one source, adding more won’t fix it. It’ll just give you more to hide behind.

For photographers: start here. Get your one light dialed in before you add anything else. That’s not a limitation. That’s the work.

For anyone looking for photos that actually feel like you: this is the kind of session I love most. Simple. Intentional. Nothing extra.

Nobody coached that “oh my god.”
And honestly? Same, Amanda. Same.
co walked into this session already knowing what she wanted. Multiple looks, a clear vision, and the kind of presence that just needed the right light and a well-timed “I believe in you” to fully come alive.

Every angle, every shoulder tilt, every “hang on, try this instead” was intentional.

What you’re watching is real. That gasp, that smile, that full-body “oh my god” at the laptop? That’s not performance. That’s a woman recognizing herself.

That’s the part nobody talks about enough. Not the gear. Not the lighting setup. The moment a woman sees herself the way everyone else already has.

That’s the only hustle I’m interested in.

If you’re ready to gasp at your own photos, you know where to find me.

I have a theory.

Somewhere out there, there is a LinkedIn profile photo taken in 2011 that has now outlasted two marriages, three job titles, a rebrand, and a pandemic.

It has seen things.

It is tired.

And yet, there it sits. Still representing you. Still being the first impression you make on every recruiter, potential client, and speaking bureau that clicks your name.

Listen. I am not here to shame anyone. I am here to help.

I made a FREE GUIDE called The Professional LinkedIn Headshot Guide.

Nearly 15 years of photographing executives, entrepreneurs, and public figures in Nashville taught me that the questions are always the same.

What do I wear?

How do I not look stiff?

Which photo do I even choose?

The guide answers all of it.

Practical, no-fluff tips on how to prepare, what to wear, and how to pick the shot that actually represents you. Genuinely useful whether you book with me or someone else entirely.

Your 2011 self did their best.

Let 2026 you take it from here.
