Went to Leipzig and ate Bachs favorite fish, it was delicious, and it is now also my favorite fish :D
Bach got his first solid “job” here at St. Thomas Church, where he was then buried, before I left, my grandfather whose name was Thomas Lamontanaro died after struggling with diabetes and isolation that began in 2020 when they took all of the chairs in his assisted living facility and threw them in a pile in the center of their communal room. I thought about him a lot throughout the trip, he never came out here, lived mostly in New York aside from boot camp, where he wasn’t treated well, but he was a pitcher on the Mets farm team and left to raise my Mother

Strasbourg, a city built by Germans and taken by the French for Napoleon to go on vacation. The Cathedral Notre Dame de Strasbourg was its centerpiece. Goethe called it a “sublimely towering, wide-spreading tree of God”
Idk how you feel about that word God, but it came up a lot on this trip. It seemed to be the primary motivation for people that created very beautiful life affirming things, buildings that would take 500 years to complete, songs that would disappear the moment they finished. It made me think about what we worship today where I live. We say we love nature and art and people but many people are alone and sad. I feel like we’ve been tricked.
We stayed in one of the older buildings in the city, slide 3 is the courtyard. Our host told us some of its history, he didn’t like the French, he married an Italian woman and has been trying to sell to live with her full time. I think the French were tricked by Louis the 14th into being h***y for status, and then they were tricked by Napoleon and all I know is that history is infinite and impossible to understand. I think God is everything, people, plants, rocks and s**t. It’s you and me and the people who kill people for saying it.

phoebeezkneez and I went to Harrods, we made our way through the perfume like spongrick and Patbob, the stairs had an Egyptian theme, there was that poem Ozymandias on the wall, I understood it for the first time on the escalator and was like woah for real though. The Tate had some really beautiful things in it, museums are something that we would grapple with on our trip. Most of the work displayed seems like it’s not really for anyone and then there’s a few things that can be extremely moving and it feels like it’s being held hostage. It’s funny that they put that urinal in glass and pay to ship it around. Saint Paul’s cathedral was indescribable, the organ concert we saw in the middle of the day was incredible. It feels like they are much more conscious of travelers in other countries, we peeked into a room that we couldn’t/shouldn’t be able to afford that no one was actually in but the pianist still played and that last slide is one of the artists mother giving him advice that I think we all struggle to find balance in, especially pilots and birds

Last year I was on a trip with phoebeezkneez we went about Europe by foot and by train and by electrical scooters. We started in London which seemed like the right place to start, with them being our evil parents. Ol’ Kyle never been outside the country so he was mighty excited! They even had them big red busses and people that talked funny, even the children!
There was cucumbers on all of the sandwich’s and I didn’t mind at all. It really was pretty wild, we walked around and did whatever we wanted it was pretty cool!
