9th Day of Protests in Denver
Also, big shout-out to the riot policeman that assaulted me while I was riding my onewheel home and nowhere near the protests Saturday night. I'm healing well, but my knee and shoulder were out of service for about a week. I am shocked and disgusted by the actions that we've all seen recently by police mistreatment. I never thought I'd have my own story like that to tell. Please support the people out there fighting for the rights that our country's founders secured for us.

I don't often do event photography, I'm usually too busy enjoying the moment at concerts or conversing with friends. But I'm glad I went to the truck to grab my camera, because these guys turned UP. Great set by the Quaker City Night Hawks.

Canyoneering in Moab:
As we make our way back up, I think I'm going to wear holes in my pants 😝 so we jacknife with our back to the wall and our feet on the opposite side, just willing ourselves up the crack in the ancient sandstone. With giant boulders wedged above, we are just hoping that we don't become the next movie sensation. Closer to the top, I look down to see my brothers shielding their faces from the dust swirling around in a slow mist. This place is wicked awesome.

And hell yes that's a helipad! We used it for yoga in the mornings, since it overlooked the bluff that formed the barrier to the side of the beach. Talk about a great way to start the day. 🙃 Damn, I miss this country. Wish it weren't on the other side of the world. I spent long moments in repose here. You know, whenever we weren't hiking volcanoes 😜

Canyoneering in Moab:
We flew in to meet our guides with their gear prepped. They promptly set us up with some hardy helmets (don't look up), and durable dry bags for gear. Make sure to wear shoes that you don't mind getting torn up, as we wedged ourselves into between two walls of sandstone and inched down the short parts, our shoes took more abuse than a day of sliding through talus. Rappelling the longer shots with canyoneering knots to retrieve the ropes from above, we descended through the dreamlike, wavy strata to a soft landing in the deep sand base. We pondered the effects of flash floods on our mortality as we devoured some lunch. 😋 Then it was time to head back up...

Have you ever been to a black sand beach?
Two summers ago around this time, I was relaxing on this black sand beach in the Pacific. For anyone wanting to it's a must see before you die kind of place. The waves were so massive on the west coast, it sounded like thunder waking us up at night. Not a good swimming beach! 😆

Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.

Sometimes not getting that job or breaking up with someone is the best move you ever made. Sometimes it takes a little time to put that into clarity. Don't fret, keep trekking.
