One of the very few times I will post something non-wildlife related. Big Boy 4014, the worlds largest operational steam engine operated by Union Pacific. Lucky to have it come through tracks thats only about a mile from my house.

I had a biologist come out to see my 1st and 2nd year prairie (2nd pictured). Was pretty awesome to hear her tell me it’s one of the best 2nd year prairies she’s seen. I work really hard on this. I’ve managed the invasives pretty well, just fighting non-native white clover.

It’s not much quite yet, but middle of summer it’s gonna be awesome. The flower blooming here is foxglove beardtongue. Loved by bumblebees and hummingbirds.

Cape May Warbler - Whitley Co, IN

Was lucky that my wife had alerted me to a colorful little friend that was hanging out in a tree in the front yard. Lighting wasn’t great but we made it work.

Southern Blue Flag (Iris virginica) - Whitley Co, IN

My first plant to flower in my second year prairie! Foxglove beardstongue is likely the next to bloom any day now.

Iris virginica is native in the United States from Nebraska to the west, Florida and Texas to the south, New York to the east, and the Canadian border to the north. In Canada, it is native in Ontario and Quebec. It grows in wet areas, sometimes in shallow water, including marshes, wet meadows, swamps, river bottoms, sloughs, ditches, bottomland prairies, edges of sinkhole ponds, and in shallow water. (Wiki)

Yellow-rumped Warbler - Whitley Co, IN

The natural framing and lighting really has me loving this photo. Not to mention, this is hardly cropped. It got almost too close for my camera to focus.

White-crowned Sparrow - Whitley Co, IN

I know the background looks fake, but this is the actual shot. I don't think I've had a bird perch in the best spot imaginable like this before.

I’m curious, I created this page to show what’s out and around us that most people don’t know existed. I’ve posted hundreds of bird photos and last year more bug photos.

I intend to move towards native bugs and plants over the summer as birding dies down.

I do this for the love of nature and education. I learn lots when I post too. I’ve not made a single cent from doing this.

I’m curious, what have you gotten from following me? Do you enjoy learning about birds, bugs or plants? Do you just enjoy my photos? I’m really curious. Hope I get some feedback.

Was walking around my 1/2 acre prairie pulling invasives. This may look small above ground, but checkout how long the tap root is!

It’s a callery pear aka Bradford pear… aka “enter bad words here”

Eastern Kingbird - Hamilton Co, IN

Same spot as yesterday photo in the rain. I don't think I've ever seen their crest in person, its normally hidden. I think it can be seen due to the rain.
