🐦🎂 When you book a birthday photoshoot and accidentally get the entire bird population of Fort Myers Beach to join the party. 😂

Last night at Bowditch Point Park, celebrating this beautiful girl’s 24th birthday, and I swear I have NEVER seen so many birds in one place! They just kept coming… and coming… and coming! 🤣 And WHOA the mosquitos were out too!! 👀

Forget birthday candles. She got a whole FLOCK of birthday wishes! 🥳🐦

Honestly, Florida never disappoints. You just never know what’s going to happen when you show up for a sunset session! 🌅💗 HOW FUN!!

🎄 100 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS! 🎄

Yep. I said it. 😂

We are officially in the 100-day countdown, which means if you’ve been thinking, “We really should get family pictures while everyone is together for Christmas…” — this is your sign. 📸

Because here’s the thing… Christmas has a funny way of sneaking up on us. One minute you’re enjoying summer sunsets and the next you’re wondering how on earth it’s Thanksgiving and everyone is in town. 😳😂

And these are the moments I LOVE photographing most — the little ones who are growing way too fast, the giggles, the cuddles, the chaos, and those sweet moments between parents and their babies that you’ll want to remember forever. ❤️

🎄📸 Christmas music is playing. The photos are editing. And yes…I KNOW it’s only September. 😂

But here’s the thing… once you photograph families year-round, Christmas doesn’t really start in December. It starts when the first holiday portraits are taken and suddenly I’m editing beach photos to the sounds of Mariah Carey. 🤣

So here I am, sipping coffee, editing beautiful family memories, and pretending it is completely normal to hear “All I Want for Christmas Is You” while looking at palm trees and Florida sunshine. 🌴🎅🏼

Honestly? I really miss my roots in Wisconsin this time of year. The smell of fall, the cooler weather, fall leaves, sweatshirts and bonfires. ALL. OF. IT. 🍂❤️

But since Florida forgot to give me fall, I guess I’ll just create my own version… with a Christmas playlist, a cup of coffee, and a whole lot of beautiful family photos to edit. 😂🎄

And really… that’s not such a bad way to spend a September morning. ✨📷

😂🎄 FRIENDLY HOLIDAY PSA: WE ARE 4 MONTHS FROM CHRISTMAS. 🎄😂

Yep. I said it. FOUR. MONTHS.

Sunsets ☀️ Obsessed

Maybe because they’re proof that even the ending of something can be absolutely beautiful. 🌅

And as my birthday month rolls around and I get ready to turn 48, I’m feeling especially sentimental about this whole messy, beautiful thing called life.

I’m grateful for the people who have stayed through every version of me. The friends who can make me laugh until I cry, the ones who know the real story, and the ones who would absolutely help me hide a body. 😂

I’m grateful for beach days, ch*****ne, golden light, big laughs, little moments, and the kind of memories you don’t realize are becoming the good old days until they already are.

As a photographer, I spend my life preserving beautiful moments for other people.

Maybe 48 is about remembering to be in a few more of my own.

So here’s to another trip around the sun — literally and figuratively. ☀️

More sunsets.
More laughter.
More adventure.
More people who feel like home.
Less worrying about things that don’t matter.

There are two sides of me that get to look at this photo—and both are completely obsessed with her. 🤍

The photographer in me sees the light, the soft movement in her hair, the dreamy little moment that makes a portrait feel like a memory. I see the beautiful girl in front of my lens and think, I love what I get to do.

But the mama in me?

The mama in me sees 14.

And suddenly I’m wondering how we got here so fast.

Because just yesterday she was little enough to scoop up into my arms, and now she’s standing in front of me looking so grown, so beautiful, so completely herself. She’s finding her own style, her own voice, her own place in this world—and I’m somewhere between wanting to freeze time and being so incredibly proud of the young lady she’s becoming.

Fourteen is such a beautiful, complicated age. Still my little girl in so many ways… but becoming someone entirely her own in others.

So yes, I’ll always be her photographer.

But I’ll always be her mama first.

And I hope she knows that when I look at photographs like this, I’m not just seeing a pretty picture.

I’m seeing her.
My girl.
My little baby.
My 14-year-old.
And one of the greatest gifts of my life. 🤍🥺

This is summer. ☀️🌊

Bare feet. Sun-kissed skin. Best friends. Giggles that carry across the water. And the kind of sunset that makes you stop for a second and realize just how lucky you are to witness it.

My 14-year-old daughter and her friends… soaking up one last little piece of summer break together before school, schedules, sports, and real life take over again.

And THIS sunset? Absolutely epic. 🌅

There’s something so special about this age — old enough to have their own little world, but still young enough to spend an evening at the beach with their friends and think a sunset is the perfect way to end summer.

I hope they always remember nights like this.
The colors. The laughter. The friendships.
And how it felt to be 14, together, with the whole summer still ahead of them. 🤍

Here’s to the last sunset of summer break.
