Happy World Photography Day!! To all my fellow photographers whether you’re a beginner, enthusiast, or professional, the world has so much beauty and it’s truly awesome to see it through everyone’s perspective.

During the early 2010s, I was shooting a lot of surfing photos of my friends from the beach. My friend Sean helped motivate me to try shooting from in the water instead of on the beach. I learned 2 things that day in the water: 1 I should have definitely practiced trying to swim and take pictures before hand, and 2 that I wanted to capture moments like this for the rest of my life.

Although I don’t shoot much surfing anymore, I’m lucky enough to get to do what I love everyday.

Chicago Harbor Lighthouse 🌊💡🏠

Built for the World’s Fair in 1893 and was moved to its current breakwater slot in 1919.

It still stands and looks magnificent against the blues and greens of the surrounding sky and lake. It’s 1 of the 2 remaining active lighthouses in Illinois.

On our architectural tour of the city, our guide shared with us: In the 1980s, a man named Stirling Bemis rented the lighthouse from the coast guard under the assumption he would renovate it. In reality, he turned it into a private club for his friends and would throw weekend ragers, with many reporting possible ties to pl***oy from frequent sightings of n**e partygoers!

No wonder it’s just off the Magnificent Mile 🤩🌆

The “Wings of Mexico” art installation at Chicago’s Plaza of the Americas is more than a beautiful photo spot. Designed by Jorge Marín, it symbolizes hope, human potential, the immigrant journey, and the welcoming spirit of diverse, cosmopolitan cities.

It was created as public art meant to be experienced and interacted with—step between the wings and become part of the artwork!
