To the love of my life,
I’ll be a bit vulnerable here.
A couple months ago, I was going down a path of self-destruction and harm. I had developed an addiction and was spiraling out of control. but I was met with the reality of love, presence, and grace that helped keep me here.
In treatment, you’re often asked what your “why” is. Every time, my answer was the same: Gina.
I wouldn’t be here, healing and fighting for this beautiful life, if it wasn’t for you. I wouldn’t have found a treatment center without your love, your strength, and your belief in me to be excellent. Even when I had nothing to offer, you remained present. You never gave up on me for a single second.
Your sacrifice is immeasurable. Your nights alone. Your months of pain. The days and days of work. The ways you carried love even when it was heavy. I’m truly sorry for everything.
Today, I hit 90 days of sobriety, and I’ll graduate from my treatment center soon. These are 90 days I wouldn’t have been able to complete without you, my Gina.
I know I’ve caused pain beyond what I can fully comprehend. I am nowhere near perfect. But you make my heart whole, and you make me want to heal, grow, and become the man I was always meant to be.
No matter what happens between us, I need you to know how deeply I love you. Thank you a million times over for loving me through the darkest season of my life. You are my light.
Truly saving my life. Showing up when very few did.
If you have a Gina in your life, hold on to them tightly. Listen as much as you can. Tend to them with love and grace. And please, speak up. Love and community can save us. No one has to live in pain alone.
Take care of yourself. Take care of your people.
You’ll always be EVE to my Wall-E.
Thank you for never giving up on me.
I love you, Gina. I’ll always be your Angel Ray. ❤️🔥
