I had lots of questions about how we traveled with Capri this summer. While it wasn’t always super easy, it also wasn’t as difficult as you may think. During our entire summer in Europe, we weren’t traveling with a nanny, a grandparent/family member, or any other form of help—it was just the three of us. And honestly, it’s been that way pretty much since Capri was born, by design.
We really wanted to learn how to navigate this incredible journey called parenthood on our own first, ultimately because we knew that most of the time, it would just be Jeremy and I during all of our travels. As amazing as having help sounded when she was a newborn, we wanted to be fully immersed in the process and learn every aspect of our baby girl. We wanted to understand all of her cues, her personality, how she responds to the world around her, what she needs, and how to settle her so that we could truly feel confident on our own—even if one of us wasn’t around and the entire load was on the other.
Thankfully, along the way, we’ve also had some of our close friends meet us around the world to help out a bit and get to spend time with Capri at different stages of her early little life. 🤍
Now, after already visiting 10 countries with Capri, with many more planned through the end of the year, it will still be, for the most part, just the three of us. And yes, it requires A LOT of patience! There have definitely been difficult moments because, at the end of the day, she’s still a baby. But thankfully, Capri is also such an easygoing and happy little baby who goes with the flow 99% of the time, which makes traveling with her so much easier.
We’ve had plenty of crazy moments and situations this summer where we just couldn’t believe how chill she was through it all. While we’re still figuring this all out, I think we’ve gotten a pretty good travel system down with her.
