THIS ISN’T for eyes. It’s meant for hearts and minds.

For our first responders, Patriots in uniform, Teachers, and emergency healthcare personnel. It’s for all of our Law Enforcement Officers.

Lastly, it’s for those special people in our circle and for my family.

These were my thoughts on this Sunday morning as I walked with my wife and kids.

As all of you move into this coming week, I hope that all of this comes to fruition for each of you.

I REMEMBER when this was our ONLY training pool. Lots of crushed dreams for many during the infamous Pool week took place in this pool. Ed Hart and I showed up as the only guys prepared to class up. No one else made it into PCB in time so they rolled Ed and I to the next class. By that time many others showed up. With two classes now combined into one, we had near 60 students and the schoolhouse did not have enough rigs to handle the size of our class. They needed 2 training teams. To make things crystal clear- they HAD to destroy the class to get the numbers down. The physical slaughter that ensued to get the numbers down was biblical. Nothing was off limits- I remember my Dive buddy threw up in the pool after IWP’s.. it was rough… what was rougher was watching one of my instructors swim up, look at the chunks in the water, pick something out, and eat it! I’m not grossed out easily- but that was pretty damn disgusting! Worse off, he looked at me then smiled. In my head I was thinking “who are these people?!”. All manner of debauchery occurred right here in this pool to whittle the numbers down. By graduation day, only 7 of us from the original 60 remained to get their bubble pinned on. Ed Hart and I were the first to show and I was really glad to see him alongside when we graduated from the Dive Phase at NDSTC before heading up to Eglin.

Our 50’ ascents took place in the old BBat tower pier-side by the bay. BBat tower’s long long gone now, but it was iconic to me back then. It was all new to me then.

Loved hu***ng SCUBA gear and MK16 semi-rebreathers up and down that tower twice a day- 😅🥵.
