On April 27th, CPKC would run a loaded ballast GREX Slot Train north from Newport to Farnham QC.
The train would consist of 3 locomotives (One CP and two VRS) and the standard G19 mixed freight up front. The 4 long articulated slot cars would bring up the rear. The GREX Slot cars are 11 "cars" long permanently connected on single axle trucks that make up the massive articulated car. So while it looks like 11 seperate cars, it is in reality, one very long one.

After getting out of work, I hurried over to Newport to try and catch the train. I would end up catching them north of Newport and turned around and set up in Newport Center and started my chase from there.

On 7, March 2026, I would chase the southbound CPKC 928 on the CPKC/D&H Canadian Mainline. Norfolk Southern's Central of Georgia heritage unit #8101 would be in the lead of the train on this cloudy morning. A few days before, CN L529 (CPKC 929) had run north with 8101, 3800, & NS 1074, the Lackawanna heritage unit. 1074 would be removed in Montreal.

I decided to chase all the way to the Fort Ed-Glens Falls Amtrak station as the chase was going really well and I wanted a good shot of the train passing by that station.

A Progress Rail (EMD) SD70AH-T4 was not on the bingo cards for this spring. Here, EMDX 7219 is sandwiched between two CN motors on M323 for the trip back to Montreal. I would have liked to see it leading but I'll take what I can get.
