Not My Family Photos - Antique Images I Bought at a Flea Market

Not My Family Photos - Antique Images I Bought at a Flea Market In about 2005, I asked the price of a photo at a flea market in Oak Ridge, TN. The seller said, "How much would you give me for the whole box?

I've been carrying these around for years and they never sell." I gave him $50 and took them home.

This is labelled "Aunt Laura Heston" on the back. I did some research and found only one candidate that would have been the right age in that area at the time of this photo, abt. 1892. She was Laura Matilda Riley Heston (1834-1917), making her in her mid-fifties at the time this was taken, which seems just right.

Born to Matthew and Hannah Rothwell Riley in Pennsylvania, Laura grew up in the Blockley Township area, which is now West Philadelphia. She married William Davis Heston (1828-1910) in 1853 and they had three (known) children, Elizabeth F. "Lizzie" Heston (1855-1890), Henry Matthew Heston (1860-1914), and Laura L. Heston (b. 1869). "Aunt Laura" is buried at Westminster Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, Montgomery, Pennsylvania, USA.

Some information on the photographer, Harry A. Webb, can be found on the site of the Library Company of Philadelphia. It states that the photographer was located in a studio at 112 & 114 Nth. 9th St. from 1888-1892. As I believe this photo is later rather than earlier than that period and is definitely early 1890s, that would date this photo about 1892.

I bought this photo with others at a flea market in Oak Ridge, TN in about 2005. If you are a descendant or family member of this person, I'd be willing to part with this item.

The grey card these photos are displayed in is one I haven't seen the likes of before. No identifying marks, neither card manufacturer nor photographer, appear on it.

This photo was in a box of hundreds I bought at a flea market in Oak Ridge, TN in about 2005. It measures about 2.25" x 3.25". It shows a little girl, whose face is turned away from the camera, looking up at a baby in a stroller.

It is labelled with the names Betty Roberts Stiles and Helen Brooke Stiles. I was able to find these two sisters' information online. Betty, the elder sister, was Elizabeth Roberts Stiles Livergood (1911-1980). Helen, the baby, was Helen Brooke Stiles Campman (1916-1971). Both were born in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania to Richard and Elizabeth Roberts Stiles.

If you can explain your relationship to the sisters, I would be willing to part with this photo.
