I’ll never forget when Elizabeth and I first connected by phone. She wanted some headshots for her campaign for judgeship. She said to me straight up "I am not photogenic". She had told herself that story and I could hear in her voice that she accepted that as truth. Once we got together in the studio, I could see right away she was confident, accomplished and full of joy! In minutes were laughing and experimenting, just letting things flow. When she opened her gallery she called in tears to say thank you as she was so happy. She said, I never thought I could look so good in photos. I replied, I just capture what I see. Thanks for trusting in me.

Raise your hand if you are deeply missing the joy of eating out, exploring new haute cuisine and hanging with friends over good food and conversation - totally me for sure. Good food is so transporting and this last year in lockdown has been spent watching too many cooking and travel shows. My mouth is literally salivating for the day I can book a reservation and enjoy the act of eating out again. I know the industry is hurting and I hope that day comes soon. Meanwhile I got to spend some time in the studio with some aspiring chefs whose future looks very bright. I can't wait to see where their culinary ambitions take them!

Front Stoops - when COVID hit a lot of family photographers started a project to take photos of families on their porches/stoops. A way to document this crazy time and support local charities and essential workers. At that time in NYC, I personally didn't feel that was a good idea or wise risk being in the epicenter and all. So I held back as a non-essential business. These past 7 months, I sure have missed squeezing families close together and getting them to laugh and create memories while documenting the here and now. This was taken in 2019 pre-covid before "Front Stoop" photos became a thing. I've started taking clients again for outdoor sessions only so if you're ready to squeeze in again, reach out!⠀⠀⠀⠀

Hi it’s me, Melissa. I don’t show up in these here squares often. But I’ve run out of humans to photograph. I miss you all, wish we could be making art together. When we can get back to it, it’s gonna be amazing!
Since I am here let me tell you a few things:

1) this cute little school house is upstate in the Catskills
2) my dress is by the very talented her clothes and hats are so timeless and classic I wish I could wear them everyday

Drenched in light. ⠀
I really soaked in every sunset I could this summer. In the city with all the buildings, I don't have the luxury of a clear view of the horizon. At best I'll catch a crack or sliver of light pe*****te a crack under the door or a curtain as I pass by. So you can't fault me for being the one to stay and linger until that golden orb fully sets. ⠀⠀⠀⠀
