I was raised along side a blue and gold macaw, and a lifetime of dogs (Thanks mom and dad!). I have two beautifully wild kids, and an incredible husband that somehow puts up with my constant desire to run a zoo. Born and raised in Folsom, I graduated from California State University, Sacramento, with a BA in photography, and began taking photos professionally around 2010. My favorite place in the

whole world is the beach, and if you want to create some art with me at the beach, I am totally down! But I also love the trees and the mountains, and living in Sacramento, we are so close to the beach and the mountains. Northern California is full of so many uniquely beautiful locations, and my life goal is to photograph them all… and pet all the dogs! ;)

Fall mini sessions kicked off last weekend, and how beautiful is this family! 😍 It was a beautiful evening down by the river, and we couldn’t have asked for better weather! Only a few time slots available for next Sunday, because once they are gone, they are gone!

When mom says that she was “a little worried” that we didn’t get any good photos during their session because her little one was running around the whole time… I told her, “Don’t worry, I’m a professional!” 😏

I think we are all in agreement that the last four and a half years have been wild. But what happens when your entire identity is now in jeopardy because of a worldwide pandemic?

I have lupus, an autoimmune disease, that causes my immune system to attack healthy cells throughout my body. Due to my immune system not working properly, a worldwide pandemic kind of put my health front and center for the last four and a half years.

I work extremely hard to keep me and my family healthy, especially over the last few years. Due to that fact, I have sort of put photography on the back burner. But what happens when your best friend finds out she is pregnant? You create beautiful works of art off the California Coast, which in turn reignites my admiration and passion for creating beautiful works of art!

How fitting, on Labor Day, the day we recognize when labor activists pushed for a federal holiday to recognize the many contributions workers have made to America’s strength, prosperity, and well-being, that I announce that k.smith photography is officially back! Let’s book those fall photos today! ❤️

Halloween at Disneyland is one of my all time favorite places to be! We took the boy there for the first time two weeks ago, and he loved it! After daddy took the baby back to the hotel room one night, I stayed after to take some night time photos at the park. Did you know that the park is transformed for Halloween in a single night? This giant pumpkin, weighing 3,400 pounds, is the most instagrammed place during the Halloween season, and one of my favorite photos to snag at night. Hope you all had an awesome Halloween!
