We were two days out from hurricane Isaias making landfall in FL. We had originally planned this shoot for the next day, but we were not sure what the conditions were going to be so they were flexible with their time and we moved their session up one day. It proved to be a perfect evening. The wind was blowing, but not so much that it made it impossible to work around and the waves preformed beautifully in the background. I loved this image in color and in black and white. It's interesting to me how the same image can tell two different stories. Are you drawn to one more than the other?

Isaias was coming and we weren't sure how the weather was going to be later in the week, so thankfully this sweet family was able to meet up earlier in the week and have some precious memories documented. We had such a beautiful time with them. The weather held out for us. Today (Friday) it's raining and windy here in South Alabama, but we are safely tucked away inside. These two children had a chance to play in the sand and explore the rock jetty. What a blessing it is for me to have the opportunity to spend time with families on the beach capturing their special moments.

Do you print your images? This is one of those images that I would want to be printed large and placed a wall at home. It is simple and yet it is telling a beautiful story of a mother and her child. There is movement happening in the waves and the mother and child walking, yet to me there is strong sense of stillness and quiet.

This was not a planned shot or posed shot. Mom took little man for a walk up the shore and we working taking photos of Grandma and Grandpa. Sometimes it's those photographs in between the directed ones that can present us with the most impactful moments between those that we love.

What do you think of when you see this image? Does it create a feeling of peace or serenity or maybe something else?
