It’s graduation day for Jackson Prep! I had the privilege of photographing this year’s valedictorian, Caroline Hammack. This is especially special because I had the privilege of photographing her sister, Rachel, who was also valedictorian in 2024. Wow! The Hammack family has had 2 Jackson Prep valedictorians! Capturing a picture of both girls with their metals made this momma’s heart swell with pride. This is just one reason why I love my job! I get to capture moments like these. Congratulations, Caroline! Shine your light bright as you journey on and join your sister at Ole Miss!

Charles captured my attention with his stage presence during his performances with Jackson Prep’s show choir, Reveillon, and Prep’s theater productions. He was involved in so many activities in high school and excelled in all he put his mind towards. He graduates tonight and will continue his education at Oklahoma University. The curtain may have closed on your high school career, but the world is your stage, Charles, and it’s time to shine! Break a leg!

We’re approaching graduation week for Jackson Prep. To say I’m going to miss watching Sam play soccer at Prep is an understatement. He is not only lethal on the field with his head (you don’t want him in the box with a well positioned kick), but his personality is larger than life. He is definitely the type of person who makes an impact on everyone he meets. I wish him luck as he moves on to Mississippi State. I know he’s going to do great!

My beautiful niece graduates from Ole Miss this week. I cannot express how much it means to me to have been able to take both her high school and college graduation pictures! Myla is an extraordinary woman who is going to make such a difference in those she encounters. She is continuing her education at the master’s program at Southern Miss to become a Licensed Professional Counselor. We love you and are so proud of you, Moo!!!

We have a teenager! I cannot believe my baby is 13! Matthew, you have been such a blessing to our family. Your hard work and perseverance are an inspiration. You have taught me to look at the world through a different set of lenses, and it’s like seeing in color for the first time. It’s so easy to celebrate you. We love you, Matthew!

I loved the time I spent with Courtney and her mom taking her senior casuals! Even though I had never met them, we connected immediately. Our connection solidified over an encounter with a snake during Courtney’s session. She is a big cross country runner and is used to kicking branches out of her way. Well, the “branch” on the gravel path turned out to be a snake! I know cross country teaches you grit, and Courtney exemplified the meaning of that word. She didn’t let the snake bite slow her down and we continued her session per her request. Wow! I was so impressed by her tenacity. I probably don’t even need to wish Courtney luck as she moves on to run at Meridian Community College. She’s got this! This is a session I will definitely always remember!

I remember when Kelly messaged me a full year in advance to get on my schedule for Mary Evelyn’s senior session. I cannot believe the time has flown by so quickly! We were able to use the property that Mary Evelyn’s grandfather used to own. Not only was the property stunning, but so was Mary Evelyn. She had the opportunity to continue to play tennis in college, but she has decided to attend the college she has grown up cheering - Alabama. Good luck at Bama, Mary Evelyn!

If I had one word to describe the Eskew family, it would be joyous. Brady is one of my son’s best friends, and his mom has taught my youngest catechesis since we moved to Flowood. I knew they were an amazing family and now I’ve been blessed to see one of the reasons why. They are surrounded by such incredible family members! Susan and Doug have definitely done something right because this extended family truly loves and cares for each other. I could’ve hung out with them all day, but the Mario movie was in their near future. (Nothing wrong with a little bribery for the littles!) 😉

It’s no secret that most males do not enjoy having their picture taken. Let’s face it, most male seniors power through their senior casual sessions just to make their moms happy. (My two oldest have done that for me!) Well, my sweet friends had the bright idea to combine their sessions so their boys could take pics together. It was a great session!!! Colin, Guy, and Jet have been friends throughout high school and it was so much fun capturing them together. You’d never know it because we managed to find pockets of protection on the property, but there were wind gusts in the 20s during their session! These boys were so much fun to photograph and I loved seeing how they’ve grown into fine young men. I wish them luck as they graduate and I pray they continue their close friendship when they go off to college!

We managed to get Elizabeth’s session in right before several days of (much needed) rain came our way. We even had some raindrops fall as we started taking pics, but we were blessed with just a cloudy and not too hot evening. I learned that Elizabeth definitely has an adventurous spirit in her decision to celebrate graduation by swimming with sharks! What an unforgettable experience she will have! I loved getting the chance to include a very important part of Elizabeth’s life - her sweet dog Annie! This was such a fun session and I wish Elizabeth lots of luck at South Alabama!
