When the wind is calm, Walker Lake in Nevada can look like a mirror!
Walker Lake, originally Lake Lahontan, is a lake that is disappearing. What used to be half the surface area of Lake Tahoe, now sits at only 12 miles in length and is set for ecological collapse. No water is running into it, the fish are low, and the algae blooms keep swimming at bay. However, efforts by both the Walker River Paiute tribe and the Walker Basin Restoration Program are being made to try and save the lake!
