Fisher Point, one of my favorite running landmarks. It’s only a few miles from my house; by car it’s a different story, you have to take the longer route through some technical off road trails (about an hour one way).
As usual, even places you know very well, look completely different under the night sky.
A nice memory from another night spent in nature contemplating the stars.

Yesterday's spectacular lunar eclipse. First time experiencing it and it was a special moment. as with any eclipse, there's a strange mix of emotions ranging from awe to eeriness.

Deep in the Navajo lands, away from the crowds. I spent the whole afternoon and evening exploring the bends of the little Colorado river. I didn’t meet a single soul.
It’s a mindful experience, just being alone in nature, the mind empties from all the negative thoughts. All is left is a sense of gratitude.

Geminidis Meteor shower - December 13th 2025

This was a long one to pull off!
First I had to photograph the main image; after that, I set the camera to shoot automatically for hours, trying to capture as many meteors as possible. What you see here is each of the meteors captured blended into the original image.
While the camera was shooting, I got myself comfortable and witnessed one of the most spectacular nights of my life. There were so many meteors lighting up the sky; I stopped counting at 60!
It was quite the show to witness.

On the north side of the San Francisco peaks, where the altitude starts dropping towards the Navajo lands, lays a seemingly barren land, dotted by hundreds of volcanic cones, over 100 square miles of lunar landscape.
It’s ā€œonlyā€ 40 miles from Flagstaff, yet so far. Being there after sunset, as the night falls rapidly, it feels like being the only person on an alien planet.
To most people, it’s probably an empty, boring place, and yet I feel drawn so deeply to locations like these.

Sunsets like these don’t happen often.
That night I was driving to a location to shoot the comet. The light looked promising and it got better and better.
I’m glad I had the drone with me, it makes compositions a lot easier in unplanned situations like these.
Sunsets never get old don’t they! šŸ˜„

Another shot of Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) behind the iconic Sunset Crater in Flagstaff.
This time I brought the star tracker which allowed me to get a lot more detail, especially of the comet’s super long tail (about 15 million miles in length…).
I wanted to take the opportunity and shoot the comet again before it disappears for the next 1200 years…

Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) setting over the lava fields of Sunset Crater.
Discovered right here in Arizona, it’s 28.6 million miles away, speeding at 135,000 miles per hour; last time it was visible from earth was 875 AD.
The universe is so freaking cool.

- Oak Creek overlook -

From Flagstaff, looking down into the Oak Creek Canyon, the lights from Sedona illuminating the sky in the distance.
A beautiful scenic drive, from the alpine forests of Flagstaff at 7,000 feet, down in the canyon with the lush green trees and the creek running alongside; approaching Sedona, the scenery changes again, dominated by the amazingly beautiful red rocks.
20 of the most amazing miles I’ve ever driven, 1,500 feet of elevation change; Two places so different it feels impossible they can be so close.
Captured September 20th on a spectacularly clear night.

The Milky Way core season is coming to an end and I finally found the time to edit this panorama shot in May.
One of my favorite spots in Arizona for sure, primarily for the solitude you can experience in this place off the beaten path.
Arizona is full of incredible places, often very touristy, and for a good reason; however, I’m glad there are still places like this one where you can experience nature in complete solitude.
