Fall means family photo time 🥰

Hiiiiii everyone — checking in from the end of baseball season! I’m alive and well (ish?? 🤣) and so excited looking forward to my fall calendar! The hardest thing to keep up with when life gets busy is Instagram and I’ve definitely been less present here this summer.

Working with my return clients over + over is such a special thing 🥰 But hands down my favorite experience is capturing newborn photos for the second-born babies.

The first time you pose for newborn photos feels SO hard. Mom is freshly postpartum, exhausted from the physical + emotional toll of becoming a mom and maybe not feeling quite like herself either. Dad is learning how to parent too, and exhausted from taking care of both mom + baby. Maybe baby even has a tough time, it’s HARD to learn how to be in the world! By end of all the eating, posing, crying + pooping, everyone needs a group nap.

But oh the second time around 🤣🤣 The second time around makes the first feel like NOTHING hahaha Having a toddler running around while also going through all the above ☝🏽should be an Olympic sport lemme tell ya. But then when you get all those smiles + snuggles between the chaos 🥹🥹 That’s the magic right there 💖

To be completely honest, it’s not that often that I shoot senior portraits these days. Not because I don’t like to, simply because there are so many senior portrait photographers out there and I’ve just chosen not to put my energy into marketing for it. But every time I shoot them, I’m reminded just how much I loveeee them + how fun they are 😍

Maggie absolutely crushed her session. It’s been soooo hot this month but we finally had perfect weather for frolicking around on the golf course where she grew up. The last few photos with her childhood “Bunny” had me (and mom!) in shambles 🥹😭

Man oh man, this day was just so wonderful, fitting all my favorites into a post is near impossible.

Jess was unapologetically herself all day (as illustrated in slide 2 🤣) and watching Jordan watch her move through the world is so much fun! Fort Adams in Rhode Island is an absolute dream. The weather was perfect (especially after how HOT it’s been lately 🥵) the sunset was to die for and my jaw literally dropped when I walked outside and saw a stunning crescent moonset, with Venus hanging out in the sky nearby as well.

The ceremony views by the water were just beautiful and then to kick off the reception, the newlyweds set off a canon??? And it was maybe the coolest thing ever??? Some of their family even got a turn and we turned it into the most epic photo moment ever. I’m definitely never going to get over that.

Dinner was the most fire chicken sliders I’ve ever eaten, passed Chinese food and late night snacks, all capped off with an ice cream bar. It was so much fun to see how Jess + Jordan incorporated some of their favorite things into a wedding day, making it 100% uniquely THEM.

After the parent dances, Jess planned for the sweetest moment to honor her parents. They never got the chance to share a first dance, so Jess talked with the DJ and played a song for her mom + dad to share in a special dance. My eyes were certainly a bit weepy behind the camera, lemme tell ya.

I always feel a bit silly summarizing a wedding day like this when there are so many little nuances and intimate moments and special things that made the day more than just the facts, but I guess that’s why I do photos and not words 🤣😜
