Well the Fisher High School graduation finally happened!!! After a couple of months of not knowing what we could do and what we couldn't do the board and staff decided to set up a drive through graduation ceremony so the seniors could have their moment while still following the state and the CDC guidelines. Then roughly 2 weeks before graduation the Illinois State Board of Education announced there would be no in person graduation ceremonies. As you can Imagine several school districts and residents spoke up as many of them had already worked hard to come up with alternate plans so this graduating class could have some closure to what had become a challenging end to their high school careers. Luckily the ISBE reversed their decision and Fisher's graduation plans were back on. Mr Kelly along with Board members and school staff worked out the details and put the final plan in place, including a fireworks display the proud parents worked hard to arrange...
Then Mother Nature stepped in (very common in central Illinois 😊). FHS had to make a tough decision and postpone the ceremony to Tuesday evening. Well mother Nature decided to show her face again, but these board members and staff once again showed their perseverance and dedication to making sure this class got a chance to be recognized by standing in the pouring rain and ensuring the show would go on. This resilient class of seniors once again adapted to the situation and participated with smiles on their faces. The community showed overwhelming support by lining the streets for the graduation parade, many with signs in their yards or on their business windows!
I am so proud to be a member of this community and to be a part of this school district! I know this class will be able to handle anything life throws their way!!!
And now I present to you the Fisher High School Graduating class of 2020...
