Something I wish we’d had time to explore more throughout Ireland and Northern Ireland were the castles. When we explored the Giants Causeway, we made sure to stop at this beautiful view - Dunlace Castle, a castle ruin from the 16th century with evidence of settlement dating back to the first millennium. It sits majestic overlooking the ocean. The day was overcast and rained a few times but the views were still incredible all along the coast.

Edinburgh - likely my favorite town architecturally on the trip. It’s filled with so much charm and beauty. I wish we had longer in this city but we enjoyed the short time we did have. The university, the Royal Mile, and all the amazing views of the Edinburgh Castle. A beautiful city indeed.

The beautiful Mealt falls on the Isle of Skye in Scotland cascading into the Sea of Hebrides. The Isle has much to offer and many tourists flock there for good reason. I’d love to return in off season and also visit some of the other isles one day. Scotland was definitely my favorite part of visiting the UK.

The Cloisters at the University of Glasgow are quite a sight to see. We saw them first when watching the Amazing Race, and my husband enjoys checking out university campuses in general, so while in Glasgow we made sure to visit the beautiful campus and find the Cloisters. One of our final trip stops took us to Durdle Door, which was lovely but at the time we went, quite crowded. En route, we saw these beautiful views of Man O’ War Bay with the hills covered in wild flowers and enjoyed them so much. A beautiful way to close our roadtrip before returning to London.

The Fairy Pools hike on Isle of Skye, Scotland, is one of the most popular ones but I certainly now understand why. The trek was filled with beautiful waterscape and mountainscape scenes all the way to the classic view near the top. It was all beautiful, and I could have spent a lot longer here. So many people though.

The Quiraing. A single lane road with small pullouts leads up the mountainside to a small parking lot where you’re lucky if you find parking in high season. But if you do, the views are extraordinary, so unique in appearance. So glad we got to see them.

One of Ireland’s most famous locations is the Cliffs of Moher. You could spend the day walking the tight cliff side trails. We hit them while the sun was high in the sky so lighting wasn’t ideal, but it was neat getting to see them. The site had a large visitor center, one of the biggest I’ve been to and little hobbit hole-like shops in the hillside with vendors.

The lighting is not the best on this, but I did still want to share it - this was one of my favorite hikes we did. This is Malin Head, the most northerly spot in Ireland and this spot, in particular, was a Star Wars shooting location. We made the trek out along the cliffs and it was beautiful, gradually rising higher until the last hill where we were greeted by high winds and the most beautiful view. The photo doesn’t do the experience justice. The island to the right reminded me of something out of a sci-fi movie with jagged, sword-like rock formations. It was truly a sight to behold.

Of the 3 famous cliffs we visited in Ireland (Cliffs of Moher, Kerry Cliffs, and Slieve League), Kerry Cliffs were my favorite. Not as busy as Cliffs of Moher and more striking and varied in formation plus covered with wildflowers, I love the views at Kerry Cliffs. A short but steep walk brought you to the viewpoints, and they were so breathtaking. Pictures do not do this place justice at all. In this photo, Skellig Michael (where Luke Skywalker was found by Rey in Star Wars) and Little Skellig can be seen in the distance.
