Join me for my very first art show in Black River Falls!

Black River Falls is a small city with a big heart, and we at the Black River Falls Downtown Association are getting ready to share our passion for art and culture with the world. Some of the most talented artists and musicians will be gathering in beautiful historical downtown Black River Falls, Saturday, June 11th from 10-6pm, for an epic day of art, entertainment, and good times. Vendors will be setting up shop along historic Main Street, there will be something for everyone – from unique artwork and handmade crafts to delicious local foods like caramel apples and cheese curds. Our Car Show right on Main Street will bring you instant nostalgia. Our featured artist, Schan Wylde, a world-renowned, international seller, and intuitive artist, will be raffling off a painting at 1 pm! Schan Wylde is a realistic and intuitive artist who works to create a mood in her paintings that draws you in. Her work has been shown all over the world, including in Melbourne, Australlia. Her pieces are not only beautiful but also make for great conversation pieces. There’s even going to be live music with Mitch McVicker and local musician, Blackwaterdan Guitars O'Brien Wrapping it all up at dusk we hope you bring a lawn chair and join us at the Field of Honor Park for Movie in the Park, co-sponsored by Co-op Credit Union We will be featuring the movie Sing 2. Come visit us in beautiful Black River Falls at our Annual Arts & Crafts Festival!

Annual Arts & Crafts Festival Line Up

LIVE MUSIC: Mitch McVicker is going to kick off the event at 10 am. He recently recorded his 12th album, A Shrugging of the Shoulders. His solo career has spanned over 2200 concerts in 49 states and 13 countries. Along with recording 11 full-length albums, he has made 2 EPs, and released 2 live concert DVDs. With the recording of Shrugging’s 14 songs, Mitch set out to capture the same spirit of his live concerts – using his unique and signature construction of percussion tracks by looping junk, household items, and children’s toys. His concert is a little bit Mark Twain meets MacGyver. His quirky and inventive approach includes insightful song lyrics, unconventional instruments, and profound storytelling. It's not just about the music, it's about the people! That’s why we have a local musician, Black Waters Dan Guitar O'Brien, following McVicker. Guitar Dan is a one-man band, a lifelong harmonica player who will be bringing his guitar and harmonica skills to you!

CAR SHOW: If you're looking for a place to show off your ride, look no further than Main Street! We'll be hosting a car show with registration starting at 9 am, and we can't wait to see all the beautiful cars you bring. Vehicles enter from S. 3rd.

There's just one small thing: the entry fee is $5.00. That's right—you read that right. Five dollars! And then you get to come back and show us your ride at 2 pm when we'll have awards for all the best cars of the day! All makes and models are welcomed. 9 am-3 pm Questions? Bill 715-896-3340 or [email protected]

And if that isn't enough excitement for you, check out Karma New & Used 100-foot mural depicting Dave’s Vision. Brought to life and painted by COSA INK in 2021! It's sure to make any selfie you take there extra special.

FEATURED ARTIST: Schan Wylde is a world-renowned intuitive artist. She's been drawing her whole life, and she started painting professionally just two years ago. Since then, she's become an international seller. You can find her work in Raven Orb Gallery in Melbourne, Australia or online. Her style is primarily realistic and she focuses on intuitive, past life, pet, watercolor, and human portraits.

She will be bringing originals to purchase from her collection and some prints. You can also go here to browse her collection. Buy a print online, bring it to the show and we will have Schan sign it for you! https://schanna-polivka.pixels.com/art

In the morning, she will be sharing her story, offering discounted paintings, and teaching us her craft. At 1 pm we will raffle off a painting to be painted right there at the event! Make sure you come to check out the newest up-and-coming artist of our generation! We are lucky to have snagged her in her prime and excited she chose us to make her debut!

Sing 2: Theater owner Buster Moon sets his sights on producing a brand-new musical with his troupe in the glamorous Redshore City. There’s a beauty in being broken.

I was inspired to take this picture because this ship scene reminded me of one of my grandma’s many paintings. This is one of her many paintings that she did. I’d like to think that we had a similar vision or perspective of artistic scenes. I know she is a huge reason I got into photography. While I never have been the greatest artist or painter, I still feel a need to express my vision and passion in an artistic way. Photography has always been my first medium to express that. A big reason why I love photography so much is because I realize nothing lasts; this picture is a perfect example in that it is decaying and won’t be around forever to enjoy. With photography though I can look back at an image and have it take me back to that moment. I am able to capture beauty and because of that image I can remember beautiful moments in my life and enjoy them for the rest of my life. And it’s also a reminder that just because something is not being used as originally intended or in its ideal form does not mean it does not have value. Oftentimes it is more valuable and beautiful. There’s a beauty in being broken. I hope my images have a similar effect with you and remind you of similar joyful experiences.

The best is yet to come!
