Since moving out of Washington state, I'm not as available for bookings as I once was. On average I'm only in the area every 3 or 4 months and during my last two visits I was booked before I even had a chance to advertise.
Time moves fast and then one day you blink your eyes, 10 years have gone by and your puppies have gray muzzles, your ponies are retired from riding, and your babies are starting high school. 𝙂𝙚𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙝𝙤𝙩𝙤𝙨.

Friends! I know you're currently experiencing a wet and presumably miserable week in Whatcom County, but the B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L spring weather where I'm at in Northern Cali is doing *all the things* for my motivation and mindset...

A special snow adventure for a very special boy ❤🐾

Celebrate them.

If you follow my page then you can see all of the gifts that animals bring to our lives. And while that list is long and ever expanding, a few fill my heart a little bit more than the rest.

Looking at these pictures brings a bit of nostalgia. I was these girls, and I had that horse. The horse that was more of a 4-legged, 1,200lb babysitter. One that would follow me to the horse trough, the fence, a car hood, a fender well, a ladder, or whatever object I could shimmy up that would make me just tall enough to climb (or jump) on. A horse who never worried my parents, even if we'd go trailblazing through the back acreage for hours on end. A horse who if you accidentally slid off while galloping ba****ck through the property would stop, turn around and wait for you to dust yourself off before following you back to another make-shift step stool you could use to get back on.

So, whether it's providing child-care services, offering you any variety of support, performing for you, competing for you, or just making you laugh; celebrate them.

Feeling so grateful I finally have some horse and handler pictures to post!

If you didn't know, images like these fall under my 'Lifestyle' category as opposed to my Fine Art Pet Portraits, although I do offer fine art horse portraits - those are more like black backgrounds, textured backgrounds, etc.

So if you want some updated pictures of you and your pony, either under saddle, in hand, or at liberty - reach out! I would love to add more to my portfolio ☺️.

Hug your babies tight.

One of the few truly difficult things about my job is the reason behind me making these posts.

I may only spend an hour or two actually interacting with your pets, but between that, forming relationships with you - the owners, and spending hours staring at photos that make my heart happy (and hopefully make yours happy, too), each animal I photograph really holds a special place in my heart.

So, in honor of these sweet boys who left their families much too soon, give your babies extra love, and some from me as well.

I am, I promise!
Hopefully you all saw my post back in March, but if you didn't, here's a reminder and an update.

I moved to a very small mountain town in Northern California in early June of this year, and after living in the same town in Washington my entire life, it has been quite the monumental change. I've been busy settling in, exploring my surroundings (the Trinity Alps are basically on my doorstep), trying to make my own connections, and integrate into my new community.

Things are different here, which seems like an obvious thing to say. But, I went from living in Whatcom County, where each (comparatively) booming city butts up to the next, to a small town of roughly 4,000 people with only a handful of even smaller cities nearby. For reference, we have to travel an hour away to the next county to do our 'big' grocery shopping trips, there is one fast food restaurant within an hour of me, the post office doesn't deliver mail - everyone has a PO Box, and if I want to return an Amazon purchase... we'll just say I'm doing it at the same time I make the big grocery shopping trips 🥲. It's wild.

Now, I knew going into this that this area may not be the market for my services, and while I haven't exactly tried advertising, I believe I was correct in my assumptions. That's one of the many reasons I chose to leave my business license open in Washington - and kudos to you guys because I've already made 2 trips back home and I didn't even need to advertise my availability because I already had people lined up!

That being said, I am sticking to my schedule of returning home every 3 or 4 months , so hope is not lost in getting on my schedule! And, if you can't make it within my designated return trips, I am also advertising travel photography as well - with travel fees billed at cost.

So, while I haven't been photographing many California pets, I have been photographing some of the wildlife. Please enjoy this picture of a lovely male California Quail and stay tuned for more updates and posts ❤.
