This topic may stir some controversy, but it’s essential to address: Let’s stop critiquing our children during photoshoots.

Comments like “Your teeth look funny when you smile like that,” “Smile differently,” “Suck in your stomach,” or “Stand this way so you look smaller” can undermine their confidence. As parents, we all want beautiful pictures of our children, but imagine being in front of the camera, already feeling vulnerable, and hearing the person whose opinion matters most pointing out everything they perceive as “wrong.”

I’m here to help you capture those precious moments. I can guide the posing, elicit genuine smiles, and provide prompts that achieve the look you want. However, time and again, I’ve noticed the sparkle fade from a child’s eyes during a session after receiving unkind comments. Remember: your words hold incredible weight, and the way you think of your child shapes their self-image.

It’s okay to fix stray hairs or wipe dirt off their faces, but let’s focus on building their confidence instead of criticizing them. They deserve our support and encouragement.
