Honestly? Some of my favorite images come from dogs who have absolutely no interest in staying still!

The wiggling, the mid-air leaps, the zoomies, the dramatic flops - those are the real moments. Those are the ones that end up on walls. I don't want a stiff, posed dog. I want your dog.

"What Does the Whole Process Look Like?"
Here's how it goes from start to finish:

Inquiry - You reach out and we start the conversation.

Intake call and session planning - We get to know each other. We talk about your dog, your vision, your location, your date and time. I learn how you see your dog and what you want to walk away with.

The session - We meet at sunrise or sunset and make magic happen.

Editing - I spend about two weeks editing your gallery with care.

Ordering appointment - We go through your images together and choose what you want to print and keep.

Final edits and print orders - Your chosen prints are sent off for production with final edits approved.

Delivery - Your order is either shipped directly to you or delivered when it comes in.

Review - I ask for your feedback, because your experience genuinely matters to me and I'm always looking to improve.

Every part of this process is designed to make you feel taken care of - from the first message to the moment your artwork arrives at your door.

"What If My Dog Is Reactive, or I Can't Let Them Off Leash?"

This comes up so often, and I want to be really clear: a leash or collar is not a barrier. At all.

I can remove a leash or collar in editing quickly and easily - it's a fast, routine part of my process. So if you've been looking at my photos thinking your dog has to be off leash to get results like that, please let go of that worry right now. It's simply not true.

I also want you to know that I've photographed:

*Reactive dogs - we plan for it and work with it
*Senior dogs who move slowly and aren't interested in performing
*Dogs who are deaf or blind - some of the most meaningful sessions I've ever had
*Rambunctious puppies who never stop wiggling

Your dog doesn't need to know how to sit, stay, or do a single trick.

I don't need a well-trained dog. I need your dog to just be themselves - because that's exactly what makes the images worth keeping forever.

I went into this session expecting to photograph a bird.
I left thinking about how many animals deserve to have their stories told.

This is Jesse. Jesse is a rescue bird from the Cocheco Valley Humane Society. When he arrived, he had suffered from neglect and was missing a lot of his feathers that he lost due to stress. The executive director ended up taking him home and has done wonders with him. Jesse is such a friendly bird and so much fun! He was constantly bouncing around, laughing, and was chatting a bit saying "Hi, Jesse. I love you".

We talk so much about photographs being something you hang on your wall.

But the older I get, the more I realize they’re really about remembering.

Remembering the way they looked at you.

The funny little things they did.

The personality that somehow filled an entire room despite being so small.

The love that existed between you.

This recent session with a bird reminded me that the thing I love most about photography isn't just dogs.

It's animals.

It's connection.

It's the ridiculously special relationship we have with the creatures who become family.

So I'm putting this out into the universe:

If you have an animal you love deeply, I want to photograph them.

Yes, dogs. Always. 🐶❤️

But also birds. 🐦
Cats. 🐱
Horses. 🐴
Rabbits. 🐰
Reptiles. 🦎

And whatever wonderfully weird creature has your whole heart.

Because every animal leaves a mark on us.

And I want to help you remember theirs. ❤️

Do the things that scare you.

I'm not talking about playing out in traffic and weaving in between cars or anything like that. I'm talking about taking risks, taking chances.

What I did recently is I entered the International Pet Photography awards. It's not so much of a ranking, it's more of a grading. I've only gotten bronze in the past, and I'm really, really hoping and aiming for gold, because I wanna be ✨GOLDEN✨, ya know?

(Still stuck in everyone else's head? This came out a year ago, to the day. Crazy, huh? Anyway...)

And it's really intimidating, because I know I'm not going to place first or anything like that, but it's good for me to know where I'm at and to get that feedback from professional, internationally recognized pet photographers, specifically, so that I can improve myself and improve my craft. So I can create that for my clients, especially, and that feeling of being able to produce something that I'm proud of and that I can get behind completely.

However, my worth as a professional photographer is not dependent on my score. Regardless of my score, I know that this is a dream and passion that I will continue to follow. No matter what. What I do impacts people, the dogs I meet and it matters.

So take the risk, do the thing that scares you and intimidates you, and hopefully something good will come of it, and if it doesn't, hey, you took your shot. Personally, I'd rather know than not know.

Every time I have a new idea, I call Emily.

It's kind of become our thing. I'll message her and say 'Hey, want to try something?' and before I even finish the sentence, she's already asking what time to show up.

So when I wanted to test out Tip Top Tulips, I brought Emily and her two dogs. Red and yellow blooms stretching out in every direction, more colors just starting to push up through the soil. The light was doing exactly what I needed it to do.

Her dogs are the most patient, reliable test subjects I've ever worked with. Calm, hilarious, not especially interested in eating the landscaping. (Critical quality for this particular location.)

That afternoon wasn't just a test shoot. It was a reminder of why I love this work. A field, two dogs, my best creative instincts, and a friend who just shows up.

That's the part that never makes it into the final gallery, but it's always part of the process.

Finding a tulip field that allows dogs is one thing.

Finding one that also welcomes photographers is a whole different search.

I spent real time looking. Most places that allow dogs don't want cameras beyond a personal phone. Most places that welcome photographers have policies that draw a hard line at animals. Finding a location that says yes to both - genuinely, warmly, without making you feel like a logistical problem - is rarer than most people would guess.

Tip Top Tulips said yes. And not in a reluctant 'I guess we can make an exception' kind of way. In a 'we love what photographers do and want to support it' kind of way.

That kind of welcome matters. It changes the whole energy of a session when the place you're working in is rooting for you.

I'm so grateful I found it and for the kindness of the owner.

They close on May 10th this year. The tulips are slowly blooming and they have so many different colors! I'm so excited to go back and see them!

Sweet Pea took her egg-hunting duties very seriously—nose to the ground, tail wagging like a little spring metronome, and absolutely convinced every egg was placed just for her. (She found them all… especially the treats, which I accidentally left open for refills.)

There’s something so special about these simple, joy-filled moments—the kind that feel light, playful, and a little bit magical. The kind you wish you could bottle up forever.

Wishing you a beautiful Easter filled with laughter, and the kind of love that makes your heart do zoomies 💛🐾
