Let's work together to save the Lundy Woods. The same builder who built Riverwalk is planning to build a 46 house subdivision here.
Years ago Joe Derrick, FH City Naturalist, walked through the woods and discovered several rare plants, flowers and very old trees. Owls , hawks , deer , porcupine, opossum, raccoon and several other wildlife call the woods home . We need to protect all of it .
I believe we should try to get the city to purchase the property as they had planned several years ago. The sale hasn't happened yet, but during the past week, it definitely looks like a development is being planned soon. Lots of activity in the woods , heavy equipment, trucks going in and out.
We need this green space , also, we don't have sidewalks so it's the only safe place to walk. A housing development will destroy our beautiful neighborhood charm.
Call , write your city leaders , the DNR and the DEQ ,let them know we're not going anywhere . Thank you!
