As AI becomes more capable, what becomes more valuable about being human?

Dallas–Fort Worth continues to grow while the way we work is changing quickly.

AI is becoming part of everyday business, and that raises an important question:

What happens to our value as technology can do more?

Maybe the better question is:

What becomes more valuable when technology handles more of the technical work?

Judgment.
Trust.
Communication.
Presence.

The ability to guide people through uncertainty. The ability to make others trust your decisions.

Those qualities have always mattered. They may matter even more now.

And in a digital-first professional world, people often encounter you before they ever meet you.

A recent client came in with four outfits, and we photographed each one against two different backgrounds.

What should you look for when choosing a headshot photographer?

A good portfolio matters, but seeing one great image does not give you the full picture.

Look for consistent quality throughout the portfolio. Do people appear confident, relaxed, and engaged, or do many seem stiff and overly posed? When clients consistently look comfortable, it usually means the photographer knows how to guide people—not simply take pictures.

The session process matters too. Clear direction, expression coaching, and the opportunity to review images during the session help create a result that feels natural and intentional.

It is also a good sign when a photographer continues evaluating their own work. Strong professionals keep learning, listen to informed feedback, and look for ways to improve.

For example, Nabor is an active member of Peter Hurley’s Headshot Crew, where he regularly shares his work for review and learns from other experienced headshot photographers. That outside perspective helps him stay objective and continue refining the work.

When choosing a photographer, look beyond the final image. Consider the consistency of the portfolio, the quality of the guidance, and the commitment to continued growth.
