Urban in the morning light. I was feeling inspired by and to work with the landscape a lighting a bit more than I would normally do.

This moment struck me for the rich colors in the landscape and light. It wasn’t a blazing sunrise by any means, but it provided the pops of blues and pinks to really make this scene pop for me.

On the flip side Urban didn’t get the memo that I needed him to turn around, so the slightly turned broadside photo was the best I could do before he disappeared down a ravine.

Applewood all grown up! I felt like I was looking through a time portal the last time I was in the park. Applewood was on the run, chasing off a bachelor, and it gave me a phot that is incredibly similar to the first photo I ever took of him in 2020 when he was about 1 year old.

He was stirring up quite a commotion while I was there, pursuing mares from Applewood and Marty’s bands. .
I got lucky when he came blazing out of a creek bottom into some semi level ground where I was stationed below the loop road.

I was about two miles deep on Upper Paddock Creek, a trail I’d never hiked before, and I spotted a few members of Arrowhead’s band up on a bluff, on my return down the trail, the band had moved down to the creek bottom, and that’s were I was able to snap this pic of Tescher.

The newest news out of the park is Bloom is now living the bachelor life.

I had tips from and that Bloom was hanging out in a particular part of the park. I had to hustle my butt to get there, I was deep in another part of the park. Luckily he was still there when I got there.

I snapped this photo when I came over a ridge to see him for the first time since July. I wanted to convey the space and potential emotion of being a new bachelor. Horses are social creatures so I hope he finds some companionship with other bachelors soon.

This is Bloom if you aren’t familiar with him. He was born in the spring of 2020, and was an orphan by the his first winter. He is a warrior that has persevered despite losing his mother Strawberry so early.

He is one tough cookie. If you zoom in on his nose you can see a trickle of blood, from his quarrel with Duke after he lost his band. Urban dogged them all day while I was there.
