How in the world has summer break flown by so quickly?! I hope everyone had an amazing summer and has a smooth transition as school starts back.
I have an important update to share. This post may be lengthy and extremely vulnerable for me, so bare with me.
Starting next week I will be transitioning into a new job that I am super excited about which means I will no longer be doing photography full time. This is such a bitter sweet moment that I have been trying to prepare a post for, for a while now.
What does this mean for my photography? I will still have my page open and may still occasionally offer mini sessions. You can still reach out to me and see if I’m available to shoot a regular session for you. I will still schedule regular sessions for clients. I will not be photographing any weddings. Some of my clients have become like family to me, so this doesn’t mean that I can’t still photograph your families. It just means that my availability will be a lot more limited and my clients will want to give me plenty of notice to work with for scheduling. If I’m not available I can send you in the direction of plenty other talented photographers who will take great care of you. If you already have a session scheduled with me that will not affect your session! This includes any milestone packages and if you have a valid gift certificate those do need to be used by the end of the year.
I’ve been blessed to do for photography for the past 7 years, the last 5 being full time. I have been blessed with some of the most amazing clients. Some of them I now call friends all because of my camera. Photography has allowed me to stay home the past 5 years while taking care of my babies. I will forever be grateful for the Lord giving me that season of life.
I know I don’t owe an explanation but, I know many will wonder. To be honest burn out has taken a toll on me the last few years. Being a stay at home mom is amazing. But, being a stay at home, work from home mom definitely has some heavy weight. Trying to be present with your babies, while maintaining your home and also completing your “work” all from home is HARD. There’s such an inaccurate view of stay at home moms having all the time in the world. Don’t get me wrong motherhood alone is hard, it’s a beautiful journey but, every mama knows what the hard days feel like. I’ve been blessed working from home. I haven’t missed a lot of moments but, at the same time I feel like I have missed a lot too. The constant thought of what’s waiting for me at my desk and feeling like you have to choose between quality family time, work, or less sleep. There is no clocking in, clocking out, or normal set work hours working from home 24/7. Again, I am beyond grateful for the past 5 years being able to be home 🤍.
Seasons come and go. You have to always do what works best for your family. Within the last year our family has transitioned from my husband working swing shift, every other month working every weekend, to him only working Monday-Friday. Our boys are getting older and the more they get involved with activities the more they have happening on the weekends. Weekends now are, our family time and it’s so precious to me. A lot of photo sessions involve weekend dates. We truly value every second of family time we can get. Life is SO busy and I don’t want to miss out on this season of life. Life is to short to miss these moments and let stress take a toll. As a family we also have a farm and if you have cattle you know that’s full time 😆.
I hope everyone remembers the hard work and dedication that goes into small businesses. Small businesses are built by people with big dreams, who are also starting families and their raising babies. Give them grace. I promise you, you will never ever know the amount of time they put into the service they are providing you. Photography is so much more than clicking a button on a camera. There are so many unseen hours that people never see, especially when it’s a one man show. I can promise you a photographer is their own worst critic and the mental weight of that is tough! I know that’s the case for a lot of small businesses.
Life is full of seasons and God has opened the start to a new season for me. I’m SO incredibly thankful for this previous season. Without him, full time photography wouldn’t have been possible. Without every family that has allowed me to capture precious moments of their lives, it wouldn’t have been possible. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for the last 7 years. I’m thankful for every person that stepped behind my camera and for every session.
I don’t have a single regret about deciding to follow a dream. It has been more successful than I ever dreamed it would be. So never be afraid to try something new and chase your dreams! You’ll never want to wish you had and miss the chance. Don’t worry about what anyone may think and go for it.

Thank you to my amazing husband who believed in me from the start, helped me start by investing in my equipment, built countless props, moved all my props countless times, helped me set up, and always supported me every single day.
To the mamas reading this, whether you stay at home, work from home, own a business, or work outside the home you’re doing amazing! There is no easier option out there. You’ve been called to raise up children by our creator and he never said it would be easy. But, man does it bring a joy like no other! 🤍 So do what is best for your family!
I am looking forward to photographing my own kids more, finding my sincere love for my camera again, and being able to soak up family time on the weekends, even if it’s mostly spent at a field 😅. I look forward to still seeing some of you behind my camera!
